Serious feels with these two. Undeniable bromance between two extremely competitive people. Both pushing each other harder and harder.

The entire WORLD has let itself down by not having best on tournaments for far too long. The fact that this is the first time these two have pulled the sweater on together in a true Best Of tournament* in plain stupid. Somewhere along the way the NHL lost it's way in not participating or creating their own true tournament.

*There is a vocal minority who claim this is not a true best of tournament and they do indeed have a point.

There are a few players on Canada's roster that are questionable.

How Blackwood is not on this roster is mind blowing. The goalies are trash and Blackwood is simply better, probably the best Canadian goalie at this point.

Hell a tandem of Blackwood and Kuemper would have been infinitely better.

Defense is really bad outside of Makar and Toews. You have guys like Bouchard, Reilly, Dobson, Hamilton, Weegar, even Byram not on the team, that's a choice when you are rolling guys like Sanheim, Parayko, and Doughty's corpse.
Team Canada and engrained old boy's thinking is not anything new.

What might be new, is that the old guys they have now, no longer really posses the required skill level to win a tournament like this. If so, I'd like to think that there would be more of a changing of the guard and leadership for Team Canada. Could potentially make them a greater threat to win the majority of tournaments they send their best to. I say this as a US citizen who loves hockey but also kind of firmly believe Canada should still be dominating every best on tourny due the legecay and longevity of their love for the game.

The US is growing... but we still don't have exact data on a percentage of US kids who play hockey. Of kids that play sports aged 6-12: 54% played football. 36.8% play basketball, 26.5% play Soccer. 24.1% play baseball. Hockey is considered to be much farther behind but I can't find any solid numbers.

Seems like a dumb rule

What's the purpose in submitting a roster if you would end up preferring to play someone else instead?

I think the rule makes perfect sense. The team submitted a roster of players they thought would be the best for their country. They should be required to use them all before being allowed to bring in a ringer. Just my $0.02 on the topic...

Goalies and Dmen. I wouldn't mind Parayko and maybe even Morrissey as a third pair, but not a second. Canada has to have to guys better than these don't they? Because if not, while they produced Cale Makar... shits getting awful thin.

Morrissey needs to settle into his game. But he's good.

Parayko is like a Tyler Myers who would take slightly less than half a day to realize his shoes aren't loafers (Myers can't even operate Velcro). Always left me disappointed when the Avs played the Blues in the playoffs.
