I am still waiting for a reason then.

The most likely one is normal year to year variation in shooting %. Given the number of players in the league you expect a few who put up particularly good numbers over a given 3 year period. I don't rule out that the scrambley hockey the Flames have played the last few years isn't a factor though.

The reason he has a higher than average shooting percentage in all 3 of his pro seasons is because there is variation between them? That doesn't make any sense. Or are you saying 3 years (237 games) isn't a large enough sample size?

What part of Hartleys offensive system was 'scrambley'?

I think he'll be fine. He's barely into his 20s, so it's not like wysiwyg with Monahan; most kids his age have things to work on.

When John Tavares broke into league, he had to work on his skating and he did, so you are right, even Crosby had to work on something, when he broke into the league, his whining:laugh::laugh:(I am just joking I love Sidney).

Buddy just stop. You are a known Flames hater. Monahan has a high shooting percentage because he's a great goal scorer. There are few players in the league you would rather have with an open chance in front of the net. There is a reason he's called 'Money-hands' and that's because he's an elite goal scorer.

Also, your comparison of Scheifele and Monahan this year is comparing a guy drafted in 2011 and a guy drafted in 2013.... As OKG has said, at the same points in their careers Monahan has been better AINEC.

Also, Peter Chiarelli, GM of the OILERS, named Sean to the initial World Cup team and said Sean will be a top six Center on that team. Scheifele made the final cut. So Chiarelli thinks Monahan is better, right now.

The last half of this contract will probably be an absolute steal.

First few years probably a little much for a 2C......

skeptical. paying for what ifs right now. hopefully it pays off

I don't understand why there is skepticism for Monahan but not Barkov, Scheifele or Mackinnon.

Monahan has had 2 good seasons so far, where as Barkov and Scheifele have both had 1 good season. Mackinnon we'll also say has had 1.5 good seasons. Why aren't people skeptical of the other players signings?
Does that mean Monahan will be the best of the group? No, but he's been the most consistent and has arguably shown the most amount of growth since he entered the league.

It's fine to be skeptical of the signing and his future production, but at least keep it consistent.
