Pyyhtiä has been really good. Pärssinen and Nurmi are top players in Liiga so that makes Pyyhtiä a little better than he really is. Hopefully he can evolve his game more and holyfk get out of Turku. Turku on Suomen persereikä

I'm sure he'll be in North America next year

He has one more year on his current contract with TPS. Earliest we see him is 23/24. I don't recall the contract rules with Liiga teams if there is a transfer agreement. However, I don't see him leaving and he's destined to start in the AHL so playing another year in a high end league should be a good option for him.

Yeah I believe the leagues have a transfer agreement , it'd be good for him to stay one more year there and dominate. Getting faster and stronger needs to be his priority too because he's definitely not very big.

Any thoughts on his skill set? Sniper, Play Driver, Power Forward etc?

I don't really follow Russian prospects.
Big kid, high skill, another top 9 winger. Not a power forward but skates well, great shot and high end hands. He's going to need to adjust to NA game and need to get NHL strength but he's 21 and very highly regarded. Not likely a top line guy.

I would be disappointed if he was just a third line player and would like to think he is a top six guy.

He's a tall kid but not necessarily a big kid. Hoping he puts on some muscle on an NHL weight program.

Yes, I should clarify, by "big" I did mean tall. he's not thick but he's not rail thin either. Last I think I read he's around 6'3" and 190lbs.

When I think of Top 9, I don't think old school. I think the NHL has moved to teams with success can roll 4 lines and one of those lines tend to include specialists. I'm not saying the days of two scoring lines a checking line and goon line (well that's gone) are over but I don't think that's the standard anymore. Many want to roll three lines that can put up points or pressure and not hurt you defensively. I think Marchenko shows the skill and skating to play a top 6 roll but with the depth at wing, I don't want to peg any of these guys in a particular line. Just the way I think. He's clearly skilled, needs to get comfortable with North America, the rinks, the players, the speed (just like Johnson) but he's got a really good chance to be a piece of the new core. He'll free up others to be moved. He SHOULD be an upgraded (maybe not next year but I don't think he'll be lost given he's played against men already). I'm really excited for this kid.

If I'm not mistaken Marchenko is still under contract in the KHL until, at the very least, tomorrow anyway.
I think you are correct. I thought I read Marchenko's contract ends either April 30th or May 1st so our season is done before he could sign with us.

it's usually renewed every year.

good that marchenko agent didn't force jarmo to sign for last game just to burn a year off.
Marchenko's contract doesn't end until 4/30 so that's after CBJ season ends. Some good luck on our end. I wouldn't be surprised to see them announce the deal tomorrow. They'll need time to figure out the visa situation with the political climate right now.

I'm wondering if CBJ doesn't push for Nikolai Makarov to sign an ELC and come to North America as well. Although it looks like his contract might run through next year, similar to Voronkov.

Makarov's contract is to 2023.

Complete brain fart on my end. Focused in on the lastword on hockey article thinking it was a source for the contract claim.

I was very hard on Sillinger this season. If he fixes his skating he can be a low end 1C. Love it
Nice to know you have his entire NHL career figured out after his rookie season as an eighteen year old.
