We weren't talking about who is more likely, we were talking about whose high end was highest.

I think that's gotta be factored in. If you think the kid has all the tools but no toolbox to take it to the next level that has to be taken into consideration.

And ever since the trade PLD has been scoring at a similar rate to Abramov.

He should have gone higher than 3rd round, but that's similar production to last year. I'll tune back in when he's playing against men.

Love this guy.. didn't we get him in the high 3rd round? He is going to be a winner, & PLD, Kolesar and the kid drafted 7th round are playing really well

Not to mention- Kole Sherwood seems to be playing well in Flint as well as a free agent pickup- 28 goals, 34 assists for 62 points in 46 games. Only had 34 points last season.

If he's got any sort of grit to his game (IDK if he does, I'm asking) then he can easily be a Calvert replacement one day.

We're talking Abramov here? I see much more than a Calvert replacement if he reaches his potential. Top 6.

Hmm... gonna have to disagree with you. A 'calvert' replacement doesn't come to mind when I think of Abramov. More like a Cam replacement.. Abramov and Calvert play entirely different styles from eachother.

Kolesar and Thurkauf seem to fit the Calvert mold a bit better.

Does Abramov have to do another year in juniors before he can play in the AHL?

I've been to a couple Gatineau games these past few years, including last Friday's game and you guys have a really special player in Abramov.

I think Kolesar is your Calvert replacement.

Bingo!!

When I saw Kolesar play in the Traverse City Event in Sept 2015, it was amazing. The name that came to mind was Thumper.

If Urban Meyer ever sees him, Kolesar would get an honorary Silver Bullet membership.

Does Kolesar or Big Thurk really skate that well? I figured they were both big guys who could be power forwards wreaking havoc in front of the net. I don't really think of that as Calvert's game. I assumed they were more Jenner-like in their style.

Abramov obviously reminds us of Cam because of his size...but so did JAM...no? Not sure we need to be talking about a Cam "replacement". Cam is still getting better and should be able to maintain this offensive level for quite a few years :)

As for Kole, I know its just his second season in Juniors but doesn't he age out after this year? The league is primarily 17-20 year olds and he is now 20 (I know there are some special exceptions for 20-21 year olds) but basically he should be dominating at this point. Don't get me wrong...its great what he's doing but its going to be far more telling when he gets to the AHL next season and plays against men.

Last I recall JAM was tearing up the NHL in Florida. We just never gave him a shot

Not sure 104th in the league is "tearing it up" but he has turned into a nice complimentary offensive player. Not sure is the CBJ gave up on him or he decided to take his game elsewhere but it seems rare for a player to stay with one organization for too long without sticking in the NHL (Tynan seems to be an exception)...he was likely to leave at some point

Regardless, I stand by my comment, why we discussing a Cam replacement?

I said if he had grit in his game I could see a Calvert replacement. I have not seen Abramov play, so I was just wondering. I see Kolesar as more of a Josh Anderson type.

For someone who was thought to be a career AHLer, that's Damnnnnn good.

And if Abramov takes a similar path as Cam(takes a few seasons to really break through) we will be needing a replacement for Cam as he's gonna be 30 in only a few seasons. Maybe we get lucky and he plays until he's 38 but we don't know. I'd rather have insurance policies in place than be S.O.L

When I saw Kolesar, I remember not being overly impressed or depressed with his skating. However that was now 18 months ago. I think that the early years of junior and pro are when real skill development can occur. You should not be expecting anything but average skating from him.
