Zaar just scored another goal. He's going to start getting far more attention.

Anton Forsberg had a shutout going for SSK, who had been struggling but now they have Carl Hagelin and Matt Read and are blowing other teams out. The stats are going to be really out of wack with how unbalanced things are with NHLers playing in lower level leagues. Anton ended up with 1 goal against.

Murray's 3 Assists Lead Everett

Ryan Murray's three assists and +3 rating led to him being the first star tonight as the Everett Silvertips knocked off the Swift Current Broncos 3-1.

Looks like he's heating up a bit, and the Eastern road swing (as is usually the case for struggling US Division teams) is proving to be a chance for the Tips to come together a bit and start to turn their season around. Hopefully Murray's hot play can continue, as it really looks like he's getting on track.

Yeah, after a rough start he's been playing really well. Keeping Erie in it right now. Anderson is also playing very well and flying all over the ice.

Dansk looked very good and stellar in the shootout. I wouldn't say Anderson was flying all over the place, Platzer was, but he gets to the right place to be effective and uses his size and strength to his advantage. Good stuff indeed.

Edit: Actually it was Chris Tierney.

Dansk stopped every shot in the shootout. 37 saves in regulation. I think they said he stopped 94 of his last 98 shots against.

I know it's still early but it would appear that the JAM signing is quite the steal. Think it might be conceivable that he could make the Jackets squad.

If there's a season.:shakehead

Overall it seems the system has some real depth to it not seen in the past. The key word here is seems, but early results are very positive. And positive has not been an operative word for the CBJ.

Agreed. It will be exciting to see that if a top 6 forward goes down to injury, we can bring in a player with the skillset like JAM instead of bringing up a plugger like Tim Jackman or Matt Davidson and moving the bottom six players up a line

Nah, Jackman would stay on the roster.

Kent McDonell would be the callup.

Murray Heating Up

Adding another two assists tonight has Ryan Murray scoring at nearly a point/game clip - with 2 goals and 9 assists in 13 games. He has also brought his plus/minus rating back onto the positive side, as the Tips have gone on a three game winning streak through their Eastern Division swing.

They are finally seeing some quality goaltending from Daniel Cotton, and the right names are starting to show up on the scoresheet for the Tips (including Murray and Josh Winquist, one of the top power forwards in the league). They still sit a distant fourth place in the division, however with such a young team they do seem to be moving in the right direction. As they continue to grow and gain experience, a guy like Murray can be invaluable to them later in the year and down the playoff stretch, as he helps the younger players make the adjustment into the league.

They should be able to make the playoffs, as Vancouver is horrid and will likely finish at the bottom of the conference, and in matching them up with Prince George and Seattle, I certainly think they should be able to beat out one or both of those teams for a spot. Depending on whether or not the NHL season gets started, I don't see Ryan Murray leaving Everett for the remainder of the season, as a trade for him would likely require so much in return that it wouldn't even be a bargaining point.

I was hoping that he would be traded so we can see what he can do when he's surrounded by half way decent talent. Would have LOVED to see what kind of damage he and Seth Jones could've done together, but unfortunately Jones kind of whined his way to Portland so :(

I was looking at his season stats and thought we wasted another 2nd round pick til I saw this game. Considering he's still getting acclamated to N.A. ice, he's freakin awesome!

Two years ago, Cody Eakin was dealt to Kootenay for no less than 8 pieces. The results? The Kootenay Ice won the WHL, but then were the first team eliminated from the Memorial Cup tournament. A proud franchise that has been competitive every single year (seriously, always at the top) is now struggling to even keep afloat after dealing away their entire future for what turned out to be a failed Memorial Cup run. Cody Eakin turned pro after playing only 45 games for the Ice.

For a Ryan Murray deal to take place out of Everett, I'd have to assume the bounty would be even higher, as he is so important to helping out not only now, but also in bringing along the youth, that the 'Tips would be downright crazy to expect anything less.

The bounty for Eakin: Forward Christian Magnus, prospects Ryan Bloom, Jarrett Zentner, Colby Cave, Stephen Myland, and a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round bantam pick.

While none of the roster players have turned out to do much for the Swift Current Broncos, WHL teams are absolutely built by the bantam draft. There's no telling what Kootenay ultimately gave up - or who they may have taken - with those picks.
