In his second game of the season he fared much better, scoring a goal, two assists, and adding a goal in the shootout en route to a 7-6 loss to the Prince George Cougars. At one point in the game, Everett led 6-3, however they gave up three third period goals - two in the last 3:25 of the game - before falling in the shootout.

2 games, 1 goal, 2 assists, -4 rating, 4 penalty minutes. The Tips have given up 12 goals in the first 2 games - they will have to tighten up, and Murray has to be the big part of that.

Mark Ferner is their coach. They haven't had a strong team since Kevin Constantwhine left ... junior hockey is 90% coaching, 10% talent/luck. I've seen teams with absolutely no big names go so far because of coaching, and teams stacked with amazing talent (Prince George had an epic team a few years back) fail terribly because they can't play together.

Ferner is actually a solid coach, the Tips deserved better last year because they played hard and competed to earn a playoff spot ... most of the season was a lost cause due to injury, and I believe that he's a good enough coach that he'll get the ship righted this year. The oddest dynamic about junior hockey is that these teams are still full of kids. I heard one coach explaining how it was hard coming from the professional level, because you get back to having to remind kids to shower and make sure they get up on time.

I know that was a rhetorical/joke question, but it got me onto an interesting subject. Beats the lockout talk?

Boone Jenner is faring quite well in the OHL so far, with 9 pts in 4 games. Always liked this player myself, so been keeping an eye.

After another weekend of play, Ryan Murray currently sits second on the Everett Silvertips with 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists); a -2 rating, and 4 penalty minutes in 4 games. The Tips currently sit 4th in the US Division with a 1-2-1 record for 3 points.

Make that 7 goals and 8 assists for 15 points in 6, yes 6, games played. Great start.

Daniel Zaar is making his debut in the Elite League tonight playing on the 2nd line for Rögle.

http://www.hockeyligan.se/elitserien-arena/38152/live/

Daniel ended the game +2 with 1 shot on goal and 07:44 TOI.

Rögle was playing Brynäs who have potential Top 5 draft pick Elias Lindholm who had a big game with a goal and 2 assists. 2013 Draft keeps looking better and better.

I hope we take all forwards with the three first rounders, different types. Playmaker, sniper, power forward/two way (this one can be the last of the three)

BPA. If we wind up picking somewhere in the top-10 and the big guns are gone, if a guy like Ryan Pulock is on the board, you have to take him. After that, I can see drafting for need ... but teams like Nashville (and, more recently, Pittsburgh) are proof that a revolving door of talented defensemen certainly isn't a bad thing.

Ryan Pulock really intrigues me. He's insane in NHL13, and he seems to be off to a great start this year, looking at his stats

 Yes, NHL 13

We only see Brandon here live once every other year (it's like a 30 hour drive); last year the Wheat Kings came to town and I boasted about how he fired a shot that had to be 100mph. I was humiliated by the "smarter HFBoards posters" ... which is funny, because now everyone is comparing him to Al MacInnis at the same age.

Good size, great vision, one of the hardest shots I've ever seen at this level, and is a competitor in every facet. The big knock on him is his foot speed, which can certainly be worked on. Or, you could pair him with a superb skater like Ryan Murray and have a potential all-star pairing.

Hey man, NHL 13 is just where I first noticed him, I hadn't heard of him before that :P , he'd be a good consolation prize for jones or the like. I like what I've heard about Ristolainen too.

Jones is going to be a great player. He reminds me a lot of Jared Cowen at around the same age, and he should develop into a top pairing guy. Pulock might possibly have higher potential, simply because I think his offensive zone play is excellent. Jones will be good at everything, but won't have the flair of Pulock.

The Jackets have may have more talented forward prospects than most give them credit for. With how well Jenner, Zaar and JAM are doing so far, there are some skilled forwards being developed.

Zaar is really clicking on Rögle's 2nd line. They've lost their last 2 games against the top 2 teams in the SEL, but they've been more competitive. Rögle was promoted up from Allsvenskan and are out of their league playing against the good SEL teams, but it's good experience for Zaar and he likely is going to stay after how well he's done.

It only 2 games but Zaar is right up there with Sebastian Collberg and Ludvig Byström in scoring for junior age players.
