This is such a weird trade. LA give up Walker and a D prospect to dump Petersen and retain on Provorov?

Columbus get a guy that may only stick around for 18 months (if he decides he won't re-sign) when they aren't really competing just yet.

Philly are the only ones to come out of this with some sort of sense and that's weird in itself.

Looks like that Petersen contract backfired just brutally. That's quite the price to pay for dumping him.

Edit: lol didn't realize that Kings' 1st was from Columbus, confusing but seems a lot fairer that way

Provorov meet Mike Babcock, who will now play you 25 minutes a night. Mike always has to have one dman he leans on for everything. Whether the player wants it or not.

Columbus really made out like bandits here. Getting him at 30% retained for the 22nd pick in the draft?

LA paid a big price to get rid of two salaries. A 2nd and Grans. In the grand scheme of things, it’s probably worth that price though.

For the Flyers, it’s a bit on the odd side. Guess they like Grans. If they don’t hit on the picks it’ll go down as a lot of fluff and not much substance. They’re not likely to get a player of Provorov’s stature with either pick but nobody can really judge the trade until those two picks start developing.

By getting Peterson , guess we really have to wait on the Hart return to judge if they’re better off tomorrow or yesterday.

Grans and a 2nd is far from 'free' + they dealt Walker + took on 30% of Provorov's contract for 2 years.
grans isn't something to write home about though

with the blake blinders on, this is a good move by LA but this is all just because he committed way too much to way too many players in the past, now he has to pay to get out from under them in order to save his tail on gavrikov/korpisalo. in a year or two, there's probably going to be another one of these
