I'd rather go for Stastny.

I really don't see the need for Stastny. RyJo is emerging into a number 1 franchise center. Jackets already have a very good 2nd line center in Dubinsky. Dubi's and Statsny numbers are very similar.

A player like Vanek or a healthy Gaborik is what the Jackets need imo.

Not surprising? Why allow a divisional rival talk to Callahan? They might not want to have him sign within the division and have to face him for the next couple of years. Or Columbus could say they're willing to give him what he wants. Which most likely means he won't drop his asking price from the Rangers. Perhaps Sather is hoping Callahan realizes no one is going to give him 7 years/42 mil and he ends up accepting the Rangers offer of 5 years/30 mil. Or at this point should the Rangers allow any team, even if it's a divisional rival and just take the best offer available?

Now they might be willing to trade him to Columbus though and hope that he leaves in the Summer. That would be the risk JD/Jarmo would have to take which they won't a JD already said no rentals this year.

If I were the Rangers I would let Columbus talk to his agent? Why? Because it would hurt our future if we signed him to some stupid contract, thus helping the Rangers. I don't see why Callahan thinks he is worth ANYWHERE NEAR the amount he does or why fans want him on our team.

I know you're a Dorsett guy, but he's not coming back here. Remember who traded him. Also, not sure why people want to trade Letestu. He started slow this year, but now he's clicking on all cylinders and is a great 4th liner and penalty killer. Definitely the kind of player we need if we make the playoffs. Seriously doubt the Rangers would want Gaborik back. I think this whole thing is the Rangers posturing to get Callahan to agree to an extension. I just don't see GMJK giving up quality roster players in a deal like this.

Started slow would be say, Gaborik's numbers through 18 games. Letestu going 39 games without a goal, when that's his main purpose, is pretty bad. He's playing decent now, he's replaceable as a penalty killer, we have plenty of guys that can kill penalties as well as him. The reason he would disappear in the playoffs is because he's not strong enough on the puck, doesn't forecheck hard enough for a 4th line guy, and doesn't have the grit. I like Testy, I do, but if you can upgrade with a more playoff type guy, you throw him in. We have to free up the glut of 3-4th line players. We have Rychel possibly coming next year, Skille is wasting in the minors, Boll will be back(don't want to hear the Boll hate, I get it, you guys don't care for him). He was a healthy scratch quite a bit early on last season. Boll has never been a healthy scratch, to my knowledge. Like him or not, he plays when he's healthy.

I just don't see the point to have Callahan come to the CBJ. Good player, I get it, but as a UFA with pretty extreme demands for his next contract just doesn't seem like the way to go. I don't see moving Cam for Cally as a step in the right direction. Seems reckless, not aggressive to me.

Cam for Callahan makes no sense whatsoever unless we are tying to make sure we don't catch the Rangers.

Glad you are not the GM. Somehow you think having Dorsett (and Boll returning) upgrades our fortunes. I think its a return to where we were and moved away from. What you want is a no impact 4th line. Letestu and his cohorts give us strength in a fourth line and have been invaluable in teh run we have made. And they do so at salries that are not cap friendly. Leave Dorsett and his idiotic penalties in NY. And my hope is that Boll is a healthy scratch when he returns, not because I dont like him but because we are a better, more skillful team without him in the line-up. I know many like Boll and he does bring a lacking asset to the team. But I think we have proven a better team during his absence.

Over Tropp and/or Comeau? Yes. I prefaced my original post saying it would never happen...but to me, Boll and Dorsett bring more to the game than Comeau or Tropp, remember Dorse had 12 goals and lead the league in PIM's as well as killed penalties. The 4th line isn't making or breaking the team, but if you remember when Boll was with DMac, they were our best line many nights as well. And Dorse brought it every night. Tropp has a little offensive touch, but he goes games where he's invisible, too. It's a pointless argument because most people just want people that score goals and that's it and that's how they compare players. I would like DMac, Letestu and Boll as our 4th line. I like Tropp and Comeau well enough and they have some grit, but Boll brings a harder forecheck, keeps the other team honest and answers the bell against all comers, something neither Comeau or Tropp is going to do. So their 4 or 5 goals don't outweigh what I like from Boll.

I don't agree at all. Having the most PIM isn't always a good thing. We are a better TEAM with the 4th line we have now compared to the ones we have had the last few years.

The line is good not because it scores goals. It is good because of how they players work together and all of the other things they do.

Tropp also makes scoring plays that Boll can only dream about.

You don't have to be hitting constantly to be playing hard.

Jarmo has a great poker face. He's either asked about him or hasn't asked about him. We won't know unless a deal actually goes down.
