I agree this couod go either way although game 1 in and its a loss for Montreal and Dvorak was a non factor basically.
Did you watch the game? Played in all situations, FO % north of 50 and was a positive player. You can’t be much more of a factor if your team only scored a goal.

Ashes to ashes ... to a Aho!

Jesperi Kotkaniemi can do no wrong in Carolina; the place to be for him in his career of ... NHL-evil

He played like an average 3rd line C. Yes I watched every second of the game and it went long periods thay you didn't even hear his name

Keep in mind, this year has an $81.5M cap. Assuming no change for 22-23, Carolina currently has $22.2M in cap space available for next year (including Gardiner if he returns from surgery.)

Ask yourself what you would need to offer Necas to get him out of Carolina given the cap space available?

Also keep in mind that this year, going above $8.22M means 2 1sts, a 2nd, and a 3rd.
We can go 8.2 on Necas. If Canes want to play that game

This situation is overplayed. At worst they can trade him for a low 2nd, and pay the Vesey toll to see if a player fit in. If he plays like garbage, and they don't qualify him is the only big loss scenario

Big loss, but teams lose value like that every year on deadline rentals. And the cap space KK ate up was valueless. Cap space is only golden for free agency

He makes good passes and fits the flow of his line but hasn’t been deadly in any way imo. Which is probably the expectation for him on a deep team. Fit in, hit the open pass, play good d. He hasn’t been exceptional or bad.

Well..Only Martinook and Lorentz had less icetime.
It’s one game and the coach throws the lines in the blender in games he doesn’t see what he likes. JK is already back in the top six as of today. The lines will change a lot as we don’t have set lines at all right now. We have three centers who get a rotating cast of wingers. Most of us presume he’ll either be with Trocheck on the second or Staal on the third. Either is fine though his numbers won’t be good with Staal, which is irrelevant if we are winning.

He’s apparently going to get a shot with Aho and TT next game.

I'm excited to see him with Svechnikov and Staal on a heavy, cycling line, when that happens.

This could honestly be a very entertaining line to watch. Svech and Staal are like bulls in a phonebooth, and they fill the shooter/net-front roles. Kotkaniemi as the "glue guy" would make a lot of sense there.

The dynamics potentially could be similar to that EStaal/Semin/Tlusty line which absolutely crushed it during the half-lockout season. That didn't require Tlusty to be any kind of superstar, just competent to take care of his limited role.

Man, that was such a ridiculously good trio. I don't know if I've ever seen a Hurricanes line globetrotter guys as consistently as they did. It's a shame Semin's wrist died.

Looks to have been the worst signing value-wise in the recent history. 6+ million guy playing 4th-line minutes..
