With all due respect, you can do your own research on it. Rather not go back down that memory hole.

So your making it up and cant back it up.

The quebec regions hates the habs, they tend to root for boston Yuck and colorado, there media is rabid and i am sure they have posted many stories about small market teams in the us moving to quebec, thats there shtick, a part from the failed attempt by bargain bin to get aho and the KK offer sheet, the media in mtl could not care less about carolina or most teams not named boston, there usually too busy drinking the kool aid or complaining about not having enough francophones.

We could discuss the intricacies of l’offre hostile, Kotkaniemi’s pay, if his play offers more than raw stats and so forth.

BUT LET’S BE REAL. WE ARE JERKS. WE HAVE BEEN CALLED FORTH. AND THE LAST MONTH WE HAD OUR VENGEANCE.

WE SHAT IN YOUR CATS’ LITTER BOX AND FARTED ON YOUR PILLOWS.

Hopefully Kotkaniemi keeps producing, will encourage more teams to go the offersheet route
Doubt it as the costs in general are high and the rewards are a mixed bag.. classic trades will continue to be better for most.

Here's one of the more recent times the media came after Carolina about relocation.

Here's discussion from the Business of Hockey board.

It has died down since Dundon bought the team and explicitly said he wouldn't be moving it, although given Karmanos repeatedly said he wasn't relocating the team I'm surprised it worked with Dundon.

There was a bit of reviving of the rumors by Pierre McGuire in 2020. Pierre decided to point out when Dundon's time to purchase the remainder of the team came up that Dundon also had an option to walk away (in case he couldn't stand owning a hockey team), but any plan to walk away was also quickly shot down by Dundon

Waddell said that today’s firestorm of speculation about relocation has its roots in the host of a Montreal radio program, Martin McGuire, who started this line of discussion earlier this week before the Canadiens arrived in Raleigh. It took on a life of its own at the morning skate this morning, when the Canes locker room was besieged by questions from Canadiens reporters about the possibility of relocation.

And I love that the link in the HFB thread leads to a deleted article from the 98.5 Sports in Montreal.

In case that guy wanted his evidence... here it is.

I am sure you can post some proof. that the evil mtl media picks on the poor canes. :naughty:

It's something we notice prior to our games against Montreal most years. There's always a noticeable uptick in "drama" headlines, usually something like the owner being on the verge of bankruptcy. It happens often enough to be more than a coincidence.

The Kotkaniemi thing has poured gasoline on the fire, but the fire was already there.

I mean, Waddell even directly referenced this in that article, too

Waddell accused McGuire of being responsible for the last time this subject came up, not coincidentally the last time that the Habs were in town.

*Sports Journalist paid a real paycheck to inform the public about stickpuck doesn't know enough about Carolina to actually do his job*

*'I know!' Sports Journalist texts French assistant equipment manager 'Hey what about the Hurricanes ownership situation '*

*'je ne sais pas, I'm just the assistant equipment manager'*

"INSIDE SOURCE CONFIRMS FUTURE IN CAROLINA UNCERTAIN"

So it goes

The problem is the Habs do not have one player on their team that would be considered a good/reliable 2nd line centre - they are a team filled with 2nd and 3rd liners.

Considering the Habs went to the cup finals , something the McDavid era oilers have never even come close to doing.....you should choose words wisely
There is no need for anyone to choose their words wisely when referring to a team that had not 1 but 2 fluke seasons during not 1 but 2 affected seasons with changed rules, different divisions, etc. It's almost like bragging about being a really good team in pre- season.

Now that everything is back to normal, Montreal is sucking again. No apologies or caution needed.

Yet why is everybody ripping on us when the roster is clearly AHL level right now. (it arguably was when we made our runs aswell). It must be salt. Like we know the team sucks thats what made the last 2 years so funny/fun for us

Karma.

Aho offersheet, KK blowback, the Mailloux thing, leaving Price unprotected, etc...

Respect for the Montreal Canadiens is at an all time low right now, and in my opinion it's with good reason.
