Lot's of factual opinions in this thread.

On top of that Hamilton is still developing so who knows what he becomes . It an easy no from the Flames

At the ripe old age of 24 it's just all downhill from here for Faulk.

Eh, all things equal I would take Muzzin or Stralman over Faulk. Faulk would win because he's 24 and cheap but skill today I'll go with the proven #2's.

[

They're not "proven # 2's". They are # 2's who became proven after being placed with superior players. That's my point.

If you think Muzzin and Strahlman are better than faulk, rhat explains why you have Faulk so low. that said, please present your argument as to why Muzzin and Strahlman are better than Faulk.

And the only thing more bogus than using fantasy to evaluate players are appeals to authority.

Because I rank defensive ability way above power play efficiency.

As a fan of neither team this trade is a lot worse for Calgary than it is for Carolina.

The gap from Gaudreau to Skinner is huge. Gaudreau is easily Calgary's best forward, Faulk might not even be their second best defenceman.

This trade makes more sense for Carolina who have quite a few good young dmen but don't have an elite forward.

Eh, I really don't care this much haha.

Wish this was like the stock market and I could short the **** out of him. See what people think after next year I guess.

I just don't see it.

The upgrade over Skinner is far from small . Flames say No

Do people forget that Gaudreau just turned 23 a couple of weeks ago and also finished 6th overall in scoring and 2nd among left wings? And have you actually seen Gaudreau play?

Faulk's being listed pretty much with Brodie in those...

Brodie, Faulk, Carlson and Josi had been pretty interchangable in rankings up into this year where Josi's appeared to climb. To me, they are the same tier. Which is a clear tier above Hamilton's play this year.

I think this would make more sense if you removed the dman swap and added one of Carolina's young D.

Skinner + Fleury + 3rd for Gaudreau?

Do people forget that top paring Dmen are worth more than top line forwards?

??? Does your definition of "elite" only extend to generational talents? Offensively Karlsson is the best d in the game.

"Elite" means best of the best. It doesn't mean "pretty good". Has nothing to do with generational... it has to do with the top players in the league.

No we saw how constantly losing, a player being notorious for being lazy and a team being desperate can kill their stars value. Hall's value around the league was because of those factors not the value of a forward vs. a defenseman

I guess if that's how you wanna justify it, cool. You're in the minority if you think a top W is equal in value to a top D. It's not even close.

Many are agreeing this deal is bad for Calgary, so maybe it's not as much of a minority as you think. Also not to mention there were even rumors that teams were concerned with acquiring players from the losing culture in Edmonton. So keep thinking what you want, but you will be wrong.

No way CGY does this deal Gaudreau is a lot better than Skinner and Faulk and Hamiltonare pretty close. Hamilton started off pretty slow last year. Of course CAR fans are way over valuing Faulk to Hamilton

This all coming from an EDM fan

Why would CGY do this to down grade at fwd for a prospect and a 3rd no way I would do this.

There is not one player that I would move Gaudreau for on CAR as CGY has a pretty good young team. CGY needs more fwds moving Gaudreau defeats this purpose

Hamilton will never be better than faulk

I agree that Hamilton likely will never be better than Faulk. Faulk is like Brodie, extremely underrated. Hamilton is overrated because of his size and skill. He has incredible tools, but for some reason doesn't use them.

That said, Johnny Gaudreau is a top 10 forward in the whole league already in his 2nd year. Gaudreau>Faulk, Hamilton>Skinner. Faulk>Hamilton.

Why would we move the best and 3rd best pieces for the 2nd and 4th best pieces?
