Leafs were fortunate for the quick whistle which resulted in Points and TB 4th goal not counting while the puck was still clearly loose and sitting at Sammy's pads.
And TBL were fortunate that Steven Stamkos did not receive a minor penalty for cross checking Rielly when Kuch had thrown him to the ice from behind, or for instigating the fight with Matthews by throwing punches when it was clear AM was trying to "play it smart" and not retaliate.

Funny you rarely mention these things.

Stamkos was disgraceful last night. Cheap goon wannabe tactics, fake tough guy leadership and no impact on the ice doing the job he was supposed to.

Tampas 4th line has had 1 good game and ours has had 1 good game. Perry the only player on their 4th line who is makin an impact at all in the series. Nobody on our 4th got an assist on the Matthews goal but they are the ones who put our 1st line in that position to take advantage of a tired TB group out there and getting a full change with puck possession in the o zone. Wanna get Bunting in that bad then sit Kerfoot because he's done nothing and you wouldn't even notice him not being in the lineup. Our 4th line starts 95% of their shifts in the defensive zone and no I am not over exaggerating with that number and Kampf 100% compared to Kerfoots 54% and they have better numbers than him. At this point I don't care if Bunting or Kerfoot plays because I feel like we should win this season with either in the lineup.
Yeah, I've been really impressed with the Leafs fourth line so far. I can understand people feeling like they're underwhelming or provide zero offense, but in the context of their usage (95%+ D-zone starts for ZAR and Lafferty, while Kampf literally hasn't started a shift in the offensive zone) it's pretty amazing that they've been even players so far. They've been used in the most defensive way possible, and they've done a fantastic job of shutting things down. They haven't directly provided offense, but the fact they can be trusted in that role means the Leafs can use their top lines every time there's an offensive zone faceoff.

As good as Perry has been, I imagine Tampa's fourth line would be getting absolutely caved in if they were used in the same way the Leafs are.

How is he going so far against Vases numbers?

Lafferty or Zach-Astron-Reese seem like the clear choices to come out for Bunting.

Bunting is a 50-60+ point player who's had chemistry on our first line. I don't know how keeping him out of the lineup over players like Lafferty or ZAR make us better.

Bunting is our highest scoring player outside of the core 4.
I don’t want Bunting in this lineup over anyone at this point. One dumb move can sway the momentum in this series

the Tampa diving competition is getting embarrassing now. Point and Colton lol.
Come on now, Point went hard into the boards, don’t think there was any diving or faking there.

He definitely hit the boards. He then recovered, skated to the ref and mock died at his feet. He then went to the lock room and waited for the calls to be made. Then the miraculous recovery happened and he has nothing wrong.

Predatory in my opinion, the player was lying prone on his stomach, on the ice unable to defend himself and gets cross checked in the kidneys. At the minimum that is a fine. Stamkos punches an unwilling combatant, with his bare hand multiple times in the head area, are we protecting players brains or are we not? The League needs to take a tough stance against this predatory type of actions.

Well two good things happened there, 1) TB showed the Leafs they are scared of them, that they need to cheat to win and 2) the refs called the right PIM on Rielly.

Matthews was also lucky that Stamkos didn't pull the jersey over his head because it wasn't tied down and apparently that's a game misconduct. that would have been bad. however

pretty much nice to see things never change.

Sometimes you have to look at things objectively, if that was Marner you wouldn’t be saying the same.

the only reason leafs won night was samsonov. tampa outshot, outchanced teh leafs last night
Not true he didn’t have to make 1 great save, a couple of good saves was about it. Average net minding at best. But then again the rest of the team was below average. I’d say we won because of Oriely’s goal and then Riely’s goal. Take your pick.

The amount of time I've called out Keefe for his stupidty gotta give him credit where credit is due.

He finally f***ing made adjustments and played guys on merit. Both the game tying goal and the OT winner he did not have tavares out because JT was playing like complete shit.

Good on Keefe. Now realize that Tavares-Nylander especially away is a disaster don't do it

Thank you for straightening Keefe out

I rewatched the game before and schenn fight. He refused to fight at first but the second the leafs lost possession of the puck in there own zone thats when he dropped the gloves. He is really intelligent hockey player. A minor play but he didnt fight for the sake of it he did it at a strategic time where it would literally take the puck away from the lightning and possibly set up a powerplay

Admit i was getting frustrated that we stopped just putting pucks to the net in favor of the ideal setup. Vasi has had trouble the whole series dealing with them and his rebound control is not it's usual strength.
