I mean Drai got a call for tapping a guy the other night. The refs call whatever they want.
I liked the OT yesterday because they put the whistles away. I don't mind things not being called but just be consistent for both teams. Obviously call the obvious penalties but the other stuff that doesn't really affect anything during play it's like why call that.

Another one? Geez. Some people have agenda's that are becoming clear.

I've always been in Matthews corner and wasn't referring to him (when people were saying trade Matthews keep Marner/ at the end of the season/included). I was referring to the other 75% of our highly paid players.

.... maybe I was reading a different gdt leading up to the game trying goal, many in the gdt were voicing displeasure with Tavares, Marner and Nylanders play (75% of the rest of this teams stars). And also maybe my eyes deceived me but the leafs have been largely outplayed in 2 out of 3 games this playoffs.

Matthews I've always been behind, as well as Reilly/(when people were saying trade Reilly near the end of the season, I was one of the few who said he steps up in playoffs).

Totally agree. I'd much rather what we saw last night than them picking and choosing. Cause we know who gets picked and chosen lol

I love Keef's comments about that incident in the 3rd period and they could give him the upper hand in the psychological game that Cooper is such a master at. He wasn't complaining about the refereeing but instead pointed out how Tampa exploited the situation to their advantage and the Refs were too stupid to see it.

He called them out by leaning on their self-respect. Could make a difference in this series. Well done Keefe.

The fact that Tampa got away with nullifying the Leafs power play late in the game by creating a "fight" was a stroke of genius, and now everyone knows about it. I love how Stamkos was literally talking to the ref while it happened, as a captain, he knew then and there that they would be taking a penalty so he started punching Matthews.

Nobody wants to be made a fool, even the refs.

The amount of time I've called out Keefe for his stupidty gotta give him credit where credit is due.

He finally f***ing made adjustments and played guys on merit. Both the game tying goal and the OT winner he did not have tavares out because JT was playing like complete shit.

Good on Keefe. Now realize that Tavares-Nylander especially away is a disaster don't do it

Just dump the puck in his corner and force him to turn at speed, and chase.

That should aggravate the ol' groin right there. But they do need to get a piece of him every chance they get.

Full agreement. An ailing defenseman who is coming in to play 30 minutes in Game 3 just needs to be attacked with a combination of speed on the entry and the dump and chase, forcing a retrieval at speed and a hard clean check into the end boards. Commit to that game plan and he’s going to feel it in the legs and play fatigued minutes. He coughed up a huge one to Matthews late in the third.

Not to get off topic but the MAGA people are indeed lunatics, at least that's been my experience. Admittedly my experience with the MAGA crowd is limited, but I'm more than happy to keep it that way.
I have a couple of Canadian maga fans. Lol. They make me look like the calm rational one

The 4th line has been pretty lackluster compared to Tampa's 4th line, largely because Lafferty is brutal. I'd be happy to have Bunting in over Lafferty
Tampas 4th line has had 1 good game and ours has had 1 good game. Perry the only player on their 4th line who is makin an impact at all in the series. Nobody on our 4th got an assist on the Matthews goal but they are the ones who put our 1st line in that position to take advantage of a tired TB group out there and getting a full change with puck possession in the o zone. Wanna get Bunting in that bad then sit Kerfoot because he's done nothing and you wouldn't even notice him not being in the lineup. Our 4th line starts 95% of their shifts in the defensive zone and no I am not over exaggerating with that number and Kampf 100% compared to Kerfoots 54% and they have better numbers than him. At this point I don't care if Bunting or Kerfoot plays because I feel like we should win this season with either in the lineup.

Alot to be concerned about, as usual Willy carrying the offense, Tavares and O'Reilly javelin been our best C, Knies looks great. Matthews and Marner need to wake the F-up. Every playoff it's the same crap. Matthews being dumbied by Stamkos is pretty weak, kid really needs to man up and grow a set.
Marner leading the NHL playoffs in points, and needs to wake up?
Matthews a goal and four assists in 3 games, gets jumped by Stamkos and is weak?
Seriously?

Lafferty or Zach-Astron-Reese seem like the clear choices to come out for Bunting.

Bunting is a 50-60+ point player who's had chemistry on our first line. I don't know how keeping him out of the lineup over players like Lafferty or ZAR make us better.

Bunting is our highest scoring player outside of the core 4.
They don't lose their shit and take untimely match penalties that put us down a man for 5 mins. They also tend not to negate the man advantage should they draw a penalty.

Point was acting the whole time. That team is is definitely a team that pulls out all the stops. Their between the whistles gamesmanship has been on full display. Funny, I read someone post in the TB GDT that the Leafs were a classless team. Thought that was rich. ha
Yeah, I don't think so, he went down hard after he tried to skate away. It may only have been that he got winded by the hit, but if that was acting give him a f***ing oscar.

I feel like the issue with guys like Bunting and Simmonds, or even the Clifford hit last year and Kadri back in the day isn't the inherent outrageousness of each player game to game but the fact that the Leaf baseline for tough, gritty, bullying hockey is on the low side.

So when someone starts acting out they stand out like a sore thumb. If we had one Brandon Hagel or one Ross Colton on our team they'd be a lightning rod because no one else is following in their dumbassery. They don't have back up and you don't have a teamwide commitment to turning up the temperature. That would be my criticism of how the Leafs have been, but that's also changing little by little.

I don't think we will consistently win games like last night.
That said, we've repeatedly seen teams win games against us in the playoffs despite playing like we did last night, and it's about time we won one.
I also know that to win a cup, you have to win games like last night. They're not all going to be pretty.
This also really has nothing to do with people being wildly wrong about Marner.

The problem has never been effort. Matthews scored our equally important 2nd goal, after hitting a guy, stripping him of the puck, and then going to battle in front of the net for a tip, while Marner set up a chance and then got a great shot on net. Marner also assisted on the game-tying goal. So I'll thank them all, based on their contributions, not pick and choose based on my personal preferences.
But it kinda does
Marner has points making it seem like he’s played well in playoffs
Reality is he’s one of our main pieces we need to lead in playoffs for success and neither he nor 34 have

Even though point production shows they haven’t been bad so yeah

It’s pretty much why they get paid what they get paid and we have very little cap room to improve

Laff almost did. Just a fine but could have been much worse. Gotta cut that retaliation shit out, especially against the Tampa Bay Divas.
"Ooo...he looked at me funny, ref! Now I fall down, 'kay? Boo hoo hoo." 😢

I think timing matters too re: Matthews. In my mind, I'm setting up these little milestones I want to see from AM34, and that shift needs to happen late in game as well. Deep into the third, deep into the series, Tampa's holding onto a one goal lead and he's going bull in a china shop and can't be stopped, leading to a goal. Expectations on him should be high and he has it in him to match. That's a privilege.

Exactly, I know you understand what I am attempting to say in all of this. I am hoping that ROR takes over the team essentially and his approach becomes contagious. If they work like ROR, this team has the talent to go all the way. I mean that.
Interesting that some people are surprised by how well ROR is performing, he is younger than Stamkos for god's sake, and had no wingers in St. Louis this past year.
He is in the playoffs now, with talented wingers, this is his time!!!!!
