They don't lose their shit and take untimely match penalties that put us down a man for 5 mins. They also tend not to negate the man advantage should they draw a penalty.
They have half the skill of bunting

I felt last year that their spirit was broken in Game 6. Lightning looked ready to roll over until they had that ill-gotten 5-on-3 that allowed them to tie the game and ultimately win in OT and send it back to Toronto for Game 7. We can't take anything for granted and have to go into curb-stomp mode.

The discrepancy between last night's unwillingness to call a 5-on-3 with the willingness to call a 5-on-3 in the 3rd period of a series deciding Game 6 is why it is important for the coach/captain to raise the issue to the media attention. And they have learnt to do it in a smart way, by crediting the reputation of tampa in Tavares' case, and the brilliant tactical moves of verteran playoff sneakiness in Stamkos's case. But the truth is, if the Leafs did the same thing in Game 6 last year 3rd period, they would have been down 5-on-3.

Predatory in my opinion, the player was lying prone on his stomach, on the ice unable to defend himself and gets cross checked in the kidneys. At the minimum that is a fine. Stamkos punches an unwilling combatant, with his bare hand multiple times in the head area, are we protecting players brains or are we not? The League needs to take a tough stance against this predatory type of actions.

Well two good things happened there, 1) TB showed the Leafs they are scared of them, that they need to cheat to win and 2) the refs called the right PIM on Rielly.
Actually it was the wrong call. They had to assess 2 after a 5 review, but there shouldn't have been a 5 to review.

Marner never faked an injury. What are you talking about, objectively?
I never said Marner faked an injury and Who says Point faked an injury. Could have had the wind knocked out of him. Let someone run you into the boards and see how it feels. It was a violent play, perfectly legal, but I’m sure it didn’t feel good

Leafs were fortunate for the quick whistle which resulted in Points and TB 4th goal not counting while the puck was still clearly loose and sitting at Sammy's pads.

Once the whistle blew if was the correct call to overrule the goal, the blowing the whistle was the mistake that cost TB the game. In fact it happened twice in the game only the other TB goal after the whistle was allowed to stand because of the continuation rule.

If this had happen to our Leafs we would be furious we got cheated by the Refs. Refs miss penalty calls all the time in games and certainly Leafs could have had more PP opportunities but Leafs didn't have any actual goals called back. Leafs were very fortunate to come away with a win as Rielly OT goal really should have only tied the game at 4-4, and of course OT wouldn't have even been possible with Leafs losing 4-3 in regulation even with ROR buzzer beating included.
I know man. The good news is Tampa's still only 2-1 in the series, so all hope is definitely not lost yet.

i would be more concerned about the effort if it wasnt for 2 things:

first, we won the game

second, we beat them so badly on thursday they had to have a closed door meeting.
we took the absolute best punch of the 3 time finals, 2 time champion tampa team and managed to win, thats a great development no matter how the game played out.

The Leafs need to call out Stamkos for his instigator and don't let him brush things under the rug as "the playoffs." Don't let him off the hook for that trash performance in the press conference and make him feel the hits and discomfort on the ice for going after Matthews. We shouldn't care that he's got a winning history. If you're going to be greasy and resort to cheap gamesmanship, prepare to pay the price. Make him public enemy and rain down the wrath in Game 5.

Yeah, Stamkos won that fight if you consider roughing up shoulder pads a win.

Stamkos got a no look 10 second start to that fight, the fact that he barely won and kept punching on the ice is just so disgraceful to the sport. If I were Unionville, I'd be feeling pretty sheepish about having those hometown banners of that guy up on main street.

Leafs need to win this in 5. Looks like Boston is going to win their series in 5 and the last thing we want is Boston resting while Tampa tries running around every game and cheapshotting our players without penalties or suspensions.
If the Leafs move on, they will encounter the same with Boston. Isn't the East great?

I wish this clip zoomed out a bit more to show that he skated and slid towards the ref before dying.

Rielly been the best or 2nd best player in the whole series. GTFO
Hey Duffy baby. GTFO...2 Decent games ,1 great game, 15 terrible games before that if that makes you feel better.
I just want him to play great every game...55 flippin years, time for someone to step up.

I really like this as well - it looked great the one game they played together during the regular season. And yeah, the Tavares line looked brutal last night, I wouldn't be opposed to breaking that up.

Would you run Kerfoot-Tavares-Acciari then?
Yeah that would likely end up as the third line where you allow JT to grind away. Once Bunting comes back you can throw him on L3 as well if needed

Rielly has been pretty good every year in the playoffs.

I never worry about him.
