Injury Report: Captain JT injury (aftermath)

yep and all the info on the web goes against what you said...Other than your myspace article from 10 years ago of course.

If you gave a shit, you would have your answers, but all you choose to do is argue with me, plenty of more recent articles buds. Grow up. If you're a fan of the Leafs you shouldn't be arguing with other fellow fans.. at the end of the day we all care for our Captain, grow up!

I’ve been lurking here for 10+ years and I don’t think I’ve ever posted but some of these takes are insane. Everyone takes a knock to the dome differently. Let’s just hope our captain is okay. Like, that was legitimately scary. He couldn’t get up, and yes, he was trying to. The “stats” on concussions don’t matter.

It's funny, I cant find much stating this.

I've seen a few links stating a KO is an obvious concussion, like the one I posted earlier and this one (is Dr KickAss reputable?)

Idk I’ve read that it has to do with the point of impact on your head.

That’s why centers in the NFL get it the worst with CTE

I could be wrong but I don’t think hits to the jaw cause concussions the same way a hit to the temple would.

Ok... well I have been knocked out 2 times in my life, and I never got a concussion, I have knocked out many of people in my life, and they never got a concussion, does that help to answer your question?

I think that was from impact on visor?

My first thought. Anything hits a visor with force (usually stick or elbow) and a cut on the nose is typical, but with the angle Tavares got hit by Perry the visor could very easily have been pushed up and hit him above the eye(s) or forehead instead.

It could. I'd ask how recently and how it was determined, even if it's a small anecdotal piece.

I understand you don't want to get into it, I guess I'm just hoping for a glimmer of hope that Tavares is alright, and truthfully, I can't find much

Maybe, but isn't a hit to the jaw a primary reason we wear mouthguards to help with concussion prevention?

If it's jaw it is more promising. Take it from us who have had the lights go out.

I totally understand what you're feeling man... I hope he is ok too.. but just from my past and the whole knock out thing... just where he was hit and how he responded shortly after, leads me to believe he was just knocked out and it was nothing MAJOR that we are all freaking out over.. .but having said that, I am not no doctor! but from the early reports from Keefe etc. it's looking good. Crossing my fingers he will be back in a game or two!

A jaw impact knocking you out is still a knockout via brain injury. Sure the level of concussion varies from where you get hit but being knocked out from a brain injury is most definitely a concussion.

You're most definitely wrong, time to go to bed dude. you're really making a fool out of yourself.

We just have to be patient and hope for good news in the morning when the health picture becomes a little more clear. From a life point of view first and then hockey. The visuals definitely did not look good but if they're able to rule out serious concussion and a broken neck hopefully Tavares can be on the mend.

I can assure you he doesn't have a broken neck! They would have put a neck brace on right there on the ice if they thought that!
But here's to hoping he will be back in a game or two! we need him big time!

meh!!! extremely minimal in that regard!
In all honestly, its to protect the players teeth!
lmfao! You are hilarious, telling me im making a fool out of myself...I cant tell if you're trolling at this point. Mouth guard doesnt protect teeth for shit its purely about concussions.

Yeah. When he couldn't hold himself up it was definitely hard not to panic and think worst case scenario. Probably one of the worst looking injuries I've seen.

lol.. ok.. this is what google says....
Though they may not prevent a concussion, it makes sense that they could theoretically decrease a hard impact to the jaw from radiating to the skull and lessen the blow. More importantly, mouthguards help prevent trauma to the teeth and face.

do mouth guards help with concussions - Google Search
piss off kid lol
