Using CHANCE, pure chance, in a game of skill is pretty pointless since not all WC clinching teams are the same. The Kings won the Cup as an 8th seed with a young, up and coming core with some veteran mixed in.

We are not the 2014(!) LA Kings.

Not all top seeds are the same, either.

and nobody has said, "Sell sell sell."

Yes they have. It doesn't have to be that exact phrase.

But as an added bonus, that exact phrase:

Now see, you were good until you decided to take a piss on the floor here….nobody needs feigned indignation in this conversation. Plenty of quit going on around here…..mixed with some sad and reluctant near-acceptance of their fate.
That was pretty fair anyway, maybe other people shouldn’t be taking pot shots

There are no moves to be made. We are over the cap, and only spared due to LTIR. The days of trading players is largely over, save the trade deadline.

The only fix has to come from within. That is why it is now, as it was last year, we need to see what we have in this system that can contribute. If that’s a 30 year old McIlrath, we are f***ed.
That's a serious "sky is falling" take. But you're true to your name, so...

For my part, I think we have a quality GM who will do what needs to be done.

We all understand what people are saying. We just disagree with it.

You don't punt on 2nd or 3rd down because you think it'll get you better field position for the next defensive series. You try to make the next 1st down and then go from there.

It's not 4th down yet.

Will you feel the same way if they beat FLA and CAR in their next 2 games?
I think so, yes. That said, I'd be happy for them to prove me wrong and actually make some noise.

Replaced both goaltenders. Significant changes.
Stats are about the same as last year, when they were a missed ENG away from probably eliminating the top seed.
They're currently in a playoff spot.
The rest is your subjective opinion.

Yeah damn my subjective opinions:) I didn't realize we played a game 7 against Florida

If it doesn't have to be that exact phrase (and readers here do not have to look it up), a number of posters have essentially said, "I like our team" as justification for not considering movement of various and in some cases any players.

No they haven't.

Will you feel any different if they do not?

I won't feel any different than I feel right now. My opinion of the team's chances will be lowered and I think they'll be closer to being out of the playoffs.

You can chose to believe what you want, but the fact is his hands are tied. The salary cap is a real problem.

I dont understand how one can look at the lineup against FLA and believe that this is a team that can

a) make the playoffs

b) have a punchers chance to win the Cup.

It's clearly time to regroup and come back with some well needed speed, hunger and energy next year.

Nobody is saying that. Absolutely no one here is looking at tonight's roster and thinking "this is the roster that wins the Cup".

But if some Frankenroster of half-injured players and call-ups can somehow squeak into a playoff spot we probably get Wilson, Carlson, Ovie, Dowd, and maybe a healthier Oshie and Orlov back on track...possibly with Eller or Mantha or both traded out for a better piece or a call-up or two taking their place.

This is not our best team. It's the team we're stuck with for now due to shitty circumstances.

But it may not matter if they lose tonight and the chasing teams keep pace. Caps are not sustaining the 65% points % they need and by this time next week if they don't get it together it'll be just about over, or very unlikely to turn around in time.

For a large part of the season. Which is a scenario many of us predicted before the season started. Just like last season. So it is not our best team, our best team was 5-6 years ago. But this is the team we have had for a while.

I do agree with trading Mantha and Eller though, but unless Carlson, Ovi, Dowd, Oshie, Orlov and Bäckström start producing like they were at their peak, this season is gone. My subjective opinion says so;)

P.S We're not "stuck with" anything. Trades exist. D.S

Many of you predicted Ovie's father would die? And Carlson would be decapitated by a slapshot? And Dowd would suffer a freak lower body injury? And Orlov would get hurt?

You can only lean on "Oshie is injury prone so I predicted this" for Oshie himself. And he's out there now, doing....something.

Backstrom has been fine but he's got nobody to finish right now.

So I'm not sure what you're talking about.

edit for your edit: Yes we are stuck with this roster until they know what's going on and someone else is willing to trade. They can't just magically make a trade appear.

I can tell. No just kidding. Yeah being the oldest team in the league comes with a lot of missed man games. That's old news. Which is why we were able to predict it. Noone predicted anything with Ovi except goals but all the other stuff except Wilson very much so.

None of the injuries affecting today's roster have to do with age.
