Sad day. RIP CF.

No doubt other sites will step up to the plate but after years of utilizing CF and it’s tools and layout, it’s definitely an “old man yells at cloud” moment for me to have to switch to another site with different formatting and options and navigation.

Closet layout to what capfriendly had.
Looks like a pretty good clone of CF so far, but just hope they can continue to refine the site to be a complete CF clone and also add some of the features that CF had like trade info for players, draft picks for each team and where they've been traded to, complete history of draft results year by year, reserve list of prospects and so on.

CF had so much data that no one else had listed on their site with such a great layout. Really going to miss them. :(

Is this why the Caps bought it? To hide their incompetence?

Some people are accountants and money managers by vocation. Others are because the NHL with its salary cap has made them that way just so they can keep up with their team.

Such salty takes. Capfriendly built something so well that an NHL team felt it was a good idea to buy it. Good on them, hope the owner(s) got a fat retirement payday for that. Can't blame the Capitals either. You buy something your competitors use, you take it off their hands, you don't leave it public.

That cap wage site looks promising

I remember when CapGeek closed and Capfriendly just looked like a knockoff.. after a couple of years, they became so much better than what capgeek was

I have never understood this from a business perspective: For the league and the teams it should be a great thing that the fans engage actively in every part of the game and the league, and create content on their own.
But somehow the guys in suits seem to think that only tuning in in front of the TV or live games is what the fandom should be at a maximum.
