They’re in that special place where teams will stop showing up to play them again. They’ll get a lucky win because of it. And people will immediately start drinking the Canuck Kool Aid again, thinking they are top ten good at anything. Not a single forward on that team, let alone the collective, belong anywhere near the idea of being good. It’s all excuses and magical thinking. The team is a mess and each individual player is contributing to it. From top to bottom. Nothing is good there. They are the worst team in NHL history. Their alleged offensive firepower is the most overrated group in the history of the game. To have any amount of hope in this squad ever amounting to anything in any regard, is futile.

heres my hot take: i think they're still top 5 in depth, but it's been built at the expense of improving the defense. you can have really good forwards but it means nothing if there's nobody to transition the puck to them. unfortunately, hughes can't play 60 minutes per game.
