How many players have the other teams in the West playoff chase traded?
Out of Vancouver/Calgary/St.Louis/Utah we’re literally the biggest seller right now by virtue of the Soucy move.
Aquilini is a douchebag but our current decision making would be happening with basically any owner. It continually boggles my mind that video-game playing fans don’t understand this shit.
There is a difference between what typically occurs, and what organizations typically do (i.e., they are typically short term oriented) and what long terms fans would like (i.e., many prefer a longer term outlook).
And I think fans shouldn't be surprised by the lack of activity. I posted a bunch of times over the last two days predicting that they wouldn't be sellers like everyone hoped because they care more about squeaking into the playoffs with almost no chance of going anywhere.
But some fans and media calling this a "failure" is dumb in the sense that it implies that management was trying to sell and failed to do it. But the reality is, they never intended this. Their intention was always to compete short term at the expense of the future.
And fans are 100% entitled to not like that. I know that you would prefer the team went for it every year they reasonably could, as I think you have said this a number of time, but I'd much prefer a longer term outlook that would be more likely to result in an elite team over a long period of time.
And the organization knows that their short term interests are disliked by the fans. That's why they leak information about them trying to trade Boeser, or how they want to trade Suter, but they will now come out and say they are "self rentals" and that they couldn't get enough value for their UFAs or didn't like the options available, etc. But the reality is they never actually wanted to trade this players.
