Well that was boring. Anyways.

Has anyone actually asked Tocchet if he plans to chill out Petey and Hughes' minutes before season end or is he just riding them into 15th place?

1) Move Garland for anything (Bjorkstrand return was 3rd + 4th so hope for a 3rd)
2) Use a mid round pick (3rd/4th) to dump Myers or if absolutely necessary, use Hoglander
3) Sign Gaudreau (3 years around 3M) or Barbashev (4 years around 4M)
4) Sign Gavrikov (4-5 years around 5M)
5) Fill out the bottom of the roster with cheap UFAs or internally

Kuzmenko - Pettersson - Kravtsov
Beauvillier - Miller - Boeser
Podkolzin - Barbashev - Mikheyev
Joshua - Aman - __________

Hughes - Bear
Gavrikov - Hronek
OEL - __________

Demko

If Pettersson and Hughes can continue their level of dominance next year then this team makes the Playoffs.

Gaudreau hopefully a bit cheaper.. barbashev at that would be dumb

PDG is on the roster next year outside of the canucks striking lucky at a couple forwards

What are you paying bear

Trading Myers and Garland frees up a lot of cap space and does little damage to the talent level of this team.

I'll do the full breakdown:

Trades
1) Trade Garland for anything (in this case I'll say the return is a 2024 3rd)
2) Trade Myers after his bonus is paid with either a 3rd/4th attached or Hoglander if absolutely necessary.

RFA
Bear: 3 years around 2.5M
Kravtsov: 1-2 years anywhere under 1.3M
Hoglander: 1-2 years anywhere under 1.3M
Dermott: Unqualified

UFA
*Gaudreau: 3 years around 3.3M
*Barbashev: 4 years around 4M
* Only one of the two
Gavrikov: 4-5 years around 5M
Schenn: 2 years around 1.5M
Wolanin: 1-2 years around 1M

What does your cap turn out to be? Including pearson and poolman

With Pearson and Poolman on LTIR, about 2M in cap space remains. If Pearson is unexpectedly healthy we can send down two players (Di Giuseppe, Studnicka, Aman or Podkolzin) to be under the cap.

Jack Roslovic, Blake Lizotte, Michael Rasmussen, Nicolas Roy, Alex Newhook, Christian Dvorak, and Jake Evans.

Doesn't go into any hypothetical trades so it's really just a list of names.

Pretty tight for peteys raise

And if poolman can go?
And bonuses?

Lol.. just saying its too much

They need to move pearson and or poolman and myers

Then look at boeser. I think garland stays with tocchet.

Says he’s heard the Canucks are in on LD Hardy Haman-Aktell and RD Filip Berglund. Haman-Aktell is Pronman’s #1 spring free agent. Berglund is a former Oiler pick that spent last season in the AHL.
Haman-Aktell sounds interesting but Berglund seems like a huge longshot. Did absolutely nothing in the AHL as a 24 year old.

Noel Acciari and Nick Bjugstad would be a good target for a bottom 6 role pking center. Something like 2 x 1.5

Barbashev @ 4m for 4 yrs seems like too much

I see the 'Hockey Writers' website has just released its annual top-10 list of the worst contracts for NHL d-men. Not surprisingly a couple of Canucks come in for prominent mention.

Coming at a solid #6 is Tyler Myers; while OEL grabs the second worst contract slot for the second consecutive year. The stunner is that there's actually a contract that's worse. And that Hall of Shame leader is Marc Edouard Vlasic.

But collectively the Canucks are flushing close to $14m down the toilet every year for two over-30 guys who are barely above 'replacement level'.

Based on those two contracts alone, Jimbo should never get near an NHL front office again.

Not a great list. Three expiring contracts in the top six even though they state contract length as one of their main criteria.

Tyler Myers is described as a "serious buyout candidate" despite there being no chance that actually happens.

I also don't see how Vlasic is worse than OEL. It's one year shorter, cheaper, doesn't have a full NMC, and is an easier contract to buyout.

Yeah, awful list.

Nurse and Trouba don't belong anywhere near that list and guys like Ristolainen and Chiarot should be in their place.

And yeah, no understanding that Myers is completely buyout-proof.

1) I'd move Boeser over Garland.
2) after the signing bonus is paid he has a sweet deal that money laundering teams would love. Swap him for a 2-3 million in real cash contract.
3) Neither of those are appealing.
4) ok

I see Kravtsov bolting back to Russia.
Barbie isnt a center.
OEL needs to be told to stay at home.

I was thinking that’s a great typo but then I thought it might be part of the NHL’s secret plan to increase revenue.

Was thinking about Gavrikov a little more, he’s pretty young I think he’s going to want 7 years…. Maybe Alvin can deal a late pick and get his rights at the end of the season
