Ruff saying all of the right things postgame. I think we all felt this after the game ended. Great to win but can’t be happy about how it happened. Aside from that 50 second goal barrage, most lines struggled to get things going consistently.

People will cite how the games were going prior to this but you can’t just ignore a 10 day layoff or whatever it was. Not to mention Marino coming back from missing almost 2 months.

As long as the team is aware they can’t have another outing like this, take the two points and look to avenge the loss to the Kraken next game.

I think they come out flying Thursday, a team they lost to plus they'll want to show the second half of the Canuck game wasn't them at all.

Bad game, lucky to get 2 points. Vitek had a bad game, the bottom-6 was invisible (again). We were the better team for maybe like 10 mins of this game but managed to win by purely out-skilling them.

I know Hughes had 2 ES goals and assisted the game winner, but tbh I thought he had one of his weakest games of the year. Not bad per se, any other player at that level would thrill me, but for my expectations of Jack he just wasn't quite where he should be. Maybe he's still hungover from Florida.

The Hischier line was really the only positive for me, they looked dominant all night. Nice to see Palat finding the back of the net.

Vancouver is a bad team, this should have been a 45-25 shot game like we were getting back in October and December. Playing like ass for 60 minutes and then hoping Jack bails them out in OT is not a sustainable way of winning games. That's not sustainable either, but having one of those performances every few weeks would make me feel a lot better about where we're heading.

Someone made a good point in the GDT about how Vancouver was meeting them at the line and forcing them to dump it in. The Hischier line did it consistently while the Hughes line tried carrying it in and tried outskilling Vancouver. And yeah, maybe my positive nature, but we need a shellacking of Seattle or a really dominant effort by them to make me feel better over the last month how they've been playing.

We need to stop with the MVP chants. To me, it reeks of little sibling syndrome. McDavid is just light years away on points.
Damn....

Stop being the No-Fun Police, man.

It's just the fans being appreciative of Jack being incredible and letting him know he's the MVP of the team.

Chanting MVP doesn't necessarily mean MVP of THE LEAGUE, you know?

I think it’s clearly about league MVP, but even then, it’s all in good fun in my opinion lol. Nothing wrong with supporting your guy, who is absolutely having a MVP level season. McDavid is just otherworldly.

so it looked to me that on two of the goals against that Jack was out there defending with Bratt and Palat. Was Jack late in changing and got stuck? If there was a mixup on the line changing that could easily lead to poor coverage on defense.

I think I'd chalk it up to rust off it wasn't the same shit we've been seeing for a month. Inability to win board battles, unable to pass the puck, alot of throwing it across and praying, losing checks.

VV couldn't keep a lid on it, and if that was mb29 blowing a 3 goal lead with those goals he gave up, this place would've been a shitshow.

I'm thinking a fully healthy up to speed Marino paired with Graves will really help.

i love that comment that he spent the last month yelling at the TV. He knows we haven't been playing well and hated it.
The difference between if MB29 blew that lead is that something like that is typical and not out of the ordinary for him and for Vitek it’s not. And by typical and not out of the ordinary I mean allowing that many goals and those kind of goals, not necessarily blowing a 3 goal lead.

Goals 1 and 4 weren’t good.

Goal 4 to tie it was particularly bad.

Hopefully these past few games is giving Fitz ideas about boosting the bottom 6, because it has been invisible for awhile now.

I am also so sick of Brendan Smith, but we know that he probably aint going anywhere unfortunately
I honestly don’t mind Smith, but I really would like it if Luke slotted for him at the end of the year.

It’s wild to me that some people watch Brendan Smith play and are worried about Luke coming in his spot. Smith basically does nothing on the ice for us right now, he’s not really strong defensively, he gets beaten a lot and he generates 0 offense. Luke won’t be perfect defensively, but he’ll create a whole lot of offense and ease things up on transition. His speed will also help defensively imo.
