Hopefully these past few games is giving Fitz ideas about boosting the bottom 6, because it has been invisible for awhile now.

I am also so sick of Brendan Smith, but we know that he probably aint going anywhere unfortunately
I don’t know what they’re waiting for with Wood. There’s no value there and it hurts that line.

I'll guess Burr is a Bruins fan?

Yes

It’s hilarious that he was watching a random Jersey/Vancouver match up. Didn’t realize he was that big a hockey fan.

Yeah, he's a big hockey fan. Probably just wanted to watch some real hockey after the all star break like the rest of us.

I agree the call in OT had to be made, but in the GDT there were a lot of comments leading up to that that the officials were letting potential penalties against NJ go.

His interview on Spittin Chiclets from a few years ago made it seem very much like he was a typical obnoxious Boston sports fan first than an actually a hockey fan. He did not come across as particularly knowledgeable about the game at all.

He's huge. i'll hear him on podcasts / shows / etc., When hockey comes up, he'll casually mention things but will have enough details that you know he isn't just a casual fan.

Maybe he’s become more of a fan recently, but I thought the exact opposite the few times I’ve heard him talk hockey

Let me rephrase that. He's probably somewhere in between fairweather and diehard.

Haven't heard it and rarely ever listen to Spittin Chiclets...though I am in the middle of listening to Patrik Elias' interview with them from a year or two ago - really interesting stuff.

As much as I appreciate Lou, you have to question some of the stuff he did even during the glory years. Elias talked about the chemistry he, Arnott and Sykora had and how the 3 of them would stay on the ice 10-15 minutes after practice and work together. Still baffled that Lou decided to break up the best line in team history less than a year after back-to-back Cup Finals. The sum was clearly better than the parts when it came to the A line. Lou also basically told Elias that he couldn't afford to give him what he was going to get in free agency and didn't negotiate at all. Elias had a deal in place with the Rangers for 6 years / $42M and would've gone there if Sather gave him a NTC. Instead, he had to call Lou himself and they agreed to a 7 year / $42M contract.

Also interesting to hear about the shouting match that Elias got into with Burns and that relationship. Really good listen overall.

That Elias interview was really great, surprisingly great actually. I didn’t expect him to be as open as he was.

I am not as focused on the playoffs as to these guys, as much as I think that going forward in building a stronger contender we have to develop the bottom 6. We’ve gotten progressively weaker play there as the season has gone on and I’m starting to think that Wood - post surgery - is not a guy who is going to drive play any more.

And Mercer and Shango tend to disappear when played down there too. Haula as well. We appear to be another catalyst type player, if not two, short to make it work.

And guys like that don’t grow on trees.

Is it just me who thinks we need to add a veteran defenseman who actually plays solid D. Hamilton and Smith are black holes when it comes to defense. Remember no 3 on 3 in the playoffs. It seems like we’ve won half our games in OT.

Is that giant hat hat now something they're gonna give to one player after every win, like the hard hat/army jacket/other weird helmet/etc that we would give out in the post game wins under Hynes?

we didn't have Marino for like 2 months and he is back now. Him and Siegs are both very good defensively.

The problem is when the D corps is healthy, thats the six we're going to use. I don't see Ruff using L. Hughes over Smith.

In my opinion, Wood has not been the same player since the Romanov hit. He did make a couple nice defensive plays last night. But if he doesn't show improvement real soon, he should be scratched for a few games.
