Per usual you have nothing to back up your reasoning we all just expected to accept it.
My reasoning is that Owners don't like to blow 10M and pay for a player to not play for their team. And owners hate that they have to incur caphit in addition to paying said player 10M not to play for them.

What part of that is giving you trouble?

Do you like wasting significant money on things you don't need or want?

Try to use some common sense...

None. What's your point? How many have you talked to?

How many of them do you think like blowing 10M buying out a player and incurring a caphit?? Do you think they celebrate after buying out a player and eating his buyout money? Pop champagne?

Do you think if i asked them if they like getting punched in the nuts, some would say yes?

You can’t call it common sense when you have nothing to base it on. You’re logic is flawed as usual

Spending $10 mil on a buyout is not an inherently poor financial decision. Not going down that path has an opportunity cost.

The rationale for Friedman’s initial speculation is his belief that they’re going to make that calculation rather than get caught up in emotion.

Based on what? Each owner just got a few million for the purchase of utah and tom D got 5 playoff games worth of revenue.
Based on the fact Dundon owns a Sun Belt franchise and xenophobes can’t stand non traditional hockey markets.

Same reason they made up relocation rumors and lied about Dundon being able to afford Aho’s signing bonus.

And to put it in perspective: it’s $10M for an owner paying at least $880 million in payroll over the next 10 years, probably closer to $900M or more with a rising cap.

And that $800K the next few years buys $4M in cap space. Cap space is hard to come by, so paying $800K for $4M in cap space may make sense for a cap team.

Being able to pay it and being OK with paying it are two separate concepts. Why do you think compliance buyout aren't a regular thing? Because owners dont want to make it easier for gms to write cheque's to fix their screwups

Im sure that’s why it is.

Or maybe its the 2nd tier owners wanting to make sure the top tier owners cant whip out a check book to erase their GMs mistakes. They want them to be stuck with their bad deals. Competitive balance and all.

Won’t the Canes have an opening in their defence when Pesce walks as a UFA? And Mikheyev’s contract ends 3 years sooner than KK’s contract, so that’s a pure cap move.
With KK’s buyout cap hit being so low, swapping poor contracts is more detrimental for us.

Hronek makes our defense worse not better next year. With burns, hronek, and morrow (presumably), that is all offense little defense on the right side. Hronek will get beat up in front of the net like tda or chatfield. He is a 2nd pairing guy asking for top pairing money. Our 2RD needs to be a shutdown guy

Then we are adding morrow, oof

Mikheyev + Hronek for Kotkaniemi + Necas + Morrow. No idea if this is fair for either team tbh
So...you took out the only asset we might want in the OP and still asked for what we declined as an overpayment when the offer included Hoglander.

Well...the "no" is getting easier.

The Canucks are a rather poor trade partner for a Necas trade. We'd give them Kotkaniemi for a pittance...I know their fans don't want him, but their FO clearly does.

OP did not mention any of that. Hoglander will cost the Canes a pretty penny. $1 mill cap hit for a 23 year old 25-30 goal scorer is insane value.

Hronek is actually a two way defenceman, not purely offence. If you think he’d make your defence worse, when the Canucks went from being a bottom 10 team to winning their division in large part because of him, then I don’t think you have really watched him play aside from being injured in the playoffs.
