No. The sweetener to take Kotkaniemi will not be that large, if we need one at all.

It seems even the buy out is on hold for now as more than one team is interested in KK as a positive value trade target.
There are more teams interested because he doesn't hold much value. It be for a late pick or similar player with lower cap hit

Whats up with the Fin top prospects?
Laine, Puljujarvi, KK, Juolevi, and possibly even Kakko..
They were suppose to dominate the NHL and not fade away

I can't see a team wanting to acquire that contract.

He's entertaining puju territory

Depends does a team hope he can get back to his 40+ point level from last year and maybe inprove a bit on it. He is only 23 so if he can become say a 50 point (middle 6) center 5M is about right

Even last year he was ice cold offensively for long stretches of the season. That is looking more like a 50game outlier stretch than the norm.

But you are right he's not a finished product yet

If I am a team with capspace and hard up for a Center, I take a shot at him if the price is cheap enough(say a salary/cap dump making less than 1M)

One thing to note on all this speculation that hasn’t really been mentioned…

Friedman said other teams like the player, yes, but he also said the Canes still like player and still see something there.

I’m not so sure they move on from him. I suppose it depends on their plans with Drury/Kuznetsov and also who they’re bringing back out of their myriad of UFAs to be. I don’t see them keeping all 3 of Drury/Kuznnetsov/Kotkaniemi, and out of those 3 Kotkaniemi is the most likely to be moved in my opinion. However, I think it’s worthwhile to point out, right or wrong, that the Canes still seem to think the player has potential.

This is my nightmare.

If someone is willing to buy your pos Toyota Corolla you overpaid for, don't get in your own way because you have sentimentality for your mistake.

Lol. Typical holding onto to the cheap mantra
Its true, tier 2 owners don't like burning 10M for nothing. Unfortunately, that's what the Canes owner will need to do with KK. It was a mistake signing and will cost 10M to shed. I wonder if that is one of the reasons for Waddell to "step down".

Based on what? Each owner just got a few million for the purchase of utah and tom D got 5 playoff games worth of revenue.

Based on no one likes burning10 million dollars and having to have a caphit on top of it. Its not exactly an outcome owners are please with.

Its called common sense.

Lol so you got nothing to go off of? Cool
I just gave 2 prime examples of how tom D just got enough money to buy him out without moving a finite resource. Your only comeback is it is common sense. Wow

Oh so you think owners like paying a player 10 million not to play for their team (and incur a caphit)?

Why are you debating this? LOL

If i told you water is wet. Would you debate that as well?
Per usual you have nothing to back up your reasoning we all just expected to accept it.
