Gallant said he didn't lie. He found up G was available when he got the call that he was cleared a couple of hours later.

I might be in the minority, but given this obvious fact I think GG needs to do a heavy mixing of the lines. These lines that have worked for us in NY this series don’t work well in Carolina. Split up Kreider and Zibanejad. Get one of those guys away from Staal line. They would still have to focus Zib, but Kreider is due for a game. He’s been disappointing this series.

Lafreniere - Zibanejad - Chytil
Panarin - Strome - Kakko/Goodrow
Kreider - Copp - Vatrano

You need to at least try and confuse the Carolina matchup gameplan at home. They have us on lockdown there with our lines and they don’t have to change a thing about it. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. Make the lines deeper. At least get Zib’s linemates away from the Staal line. Generate a favorable matchup for the new Copp line. Lots of scoring potential there. I’m appreciative of “the kid line”, but I wouldn’t expect them to score in Carolina. Time to try and confuse Carolina. Do something unexpected. Make them question their obvious gameplan.
I agree. You have to get Z and Bread away from Staal.

More on this when I have time in another thread, but just wanna say I was right about Chytil, and everybody who wanted to give him away and ditch him for less, eat my shorts.
Hopefully this is the turn we have been waiting for him to make. MYbe Drury gets an offer he can't refuse in the off-season too.

That guy always seems to be patting himself on the back for one thing or another.

I meant the team of the 2010s, post Niedermayer
Oh.

Please give me a Trouba OT winner in game 7.

We'd watch half of the Metro fanbases go up in flames if that happened.
I'd prefer Strome get that goal and watch our fanbase go up in flames.

With the exception of game 1 when the Rangers somehow got a 4 goal lead (and proceeded to almost blow it). Every other game was a 3-2 slog. Also there was a period of like 5 years when the Rangers were a guaranteed loss in overtime. That wasn't fun.

Its actually kinda wild to realize that 2012 Game 1 vs Ottawa was a high point for a single game in recent Rangers playoff hockey.

The last 10 years of this team's playoffs have been swamp water hockey and dreadful slugfests. Every game felt like a coinflip to see who was going to win 2-1.

Really satisfying, in spite of being stressful, win.

First goal by Motte was a softie. No doubt about it, Raanta has to make that stop. 2nd goal by Mika was off a filthy move. Reminded me of how Messier used to score by using his speed and changing the angle on the goalie, forcing him to move and open up the 5 hole, and then using his accurate, hard wrister to go 5 hole. Beautiful play by Mika who has been clutch this series.

I thought the second line looked as good as they have all series. Panarin was better. That 5 on 3 goal he scored was the dagger for the Canes. I said "Thank God" when Artemi put that one in.

3rd line was good. Keep them together please. Chytil with a couple of beautiful goals tonight, but I think with the talent on that line they can create more scoring chances, especially if they get matched up with the Canes bottom pair.

4th line was good as well. Great to have Goodrow back. He's a difference maker.

So proud of this team. Would have sucked to see the Canes win the series at the Garden.

LGR!

That 2012 season, if you watch the game 3 Ottawa highlights at the end of the game, Rangers win 1-0, and the camera goes to the bench, it looks like Boyle, Prust and Feds just came home from war with how tired they looked.

I thought after points the tie breaker was ROW. Rangers and Lightning both have 110 points but the Rangers have 48 ROW and the Lightning have 49. Is it head to head before ROW?

Amazing to watch Chytil and Lafreniere do well and Kakko still floundering.

He is uncanny at not getting points when his linemates do.

We still don't look like we belong with them. This series has been mostly Carolina vs. Shesterkin.

Switch goalies and it would have been a Carolina sweep.
Fun fact. The goalie is part of the team. Weird.

Based on your comments you seem fun at parties. Your team is in game 7 round 2. Enjoy it.

I'm enjoying it as much as anyone, but I won't disregard truth because of it.

So, you do agree that Carolina is dominating play and that a switch of goaltenders yields a totally different result.

That's my only point.

Edit: Just realized that maybe my Kakko point caused the pissy response.

Carolina finished first for a reason. They are an extremely well-conditioned, structured team.
At times they are outplaying the Rangers, as did the Penguins. Rangers are a young team, but they are proving they belong collectively

Canes have no power play and average goaltending. Rangers have the advantage in that area, as well as higher level star power (not by much).

Lets hope the above can secure a ROAD WIN this Monday!!

Carolina dominates play against most teams. I agree they are the “better” team but I don’t think there’s any real point Turk g to get into a possession game with them, that’s not really how you beat them
And not having a reliable goalie or whatever is a team flaw as much as not having depth to dominate possession etc
Hurricanes aren’t perfect

? They didn't look like they belonged with them in a 5-2 performance yesterday? or in the win in game 4?
Not to mention they could’ve won both, game 1 & 2!

Do you disagree that this is a sweep if they switch goalies?
Yes! Put aside that it’s a ridiculous question/statement. Igor plays for the Rangers and I believe in game two or three, they literally had 7 shots through 2 1/2 periods.

I can't remember a quality team like Carolina having such different numbers at home vs away. The Boston series was the same exact thing. Boston scored 6 goals in 4 games in Carolina but averaged 4 goals a game in Boston. It's really bazaar.

I also have to say it’s nice seeing some stars step up in the playoffs instead of being disappointed by them all, even 2014 was tough since it felt like the rangers top players should have produced more
But Zib and Fox are producing like star players
