I’ve come to enjoy the Wings broadcast, which has a conversational vibe similar to a baseball broadcast. It’s unique in the NHL and you get a strong feeling that there are things to be learned if you pay attention. They’re also one of the league‘s more neutral broadcasts in terms of giving equal perspective on both sides of the matchup.

I’m glad we played the Wings tonight, to hear their crew react in real time to Ovechkin’s goals. That has to be a really tough thing for the organization, seeing him creep inevitably up to pass Gordie Howe. Their reactions captured it perfectly, that sense of respect for both players and a bit of a tear shed for the past, but taking nothing away from the present. Very cool little moment in hockey history.
Is it the 2 same old dudes? If so, they must have had a good game. When i have listened to them, they made of the Canes and generally made me feel they weren’t watching much.

Mickey Redmond and Ken Daniels. They’ve both been at it a long time, they make Forslund look like a young pup.

It’s that baseball style of broadcast. No real PBP, more like a conversation about what they’re seeing. I don’t mind it.

Hot taek alert: Ovie was literally one of my favorite players even when he was carving us up in the Southeast division but at this point he's kinda like Pete Rose, a stat compiler with no real goal other than to break records. Gretzky probably could have scored 1000 goals if he really wanted to so when Ovie breaks his record I will probably just shrug and go on with my day.

Agree, he should just stop trying to score goals. It's painful to see a guy who's barely NHL caliber any longer just trying to hang on to pad his stats.

I am literally fine with Ovie scoring 40 goals a year until he's Jagr's age now, I just don't find it impressive in the grand scheme of things. No he should not stop trying to score goals and no he's not barely NHL caliber, so please return your account to grandpa, BBA's grandson. Strawmen arguments are beyond him.
