not sure how I feel about that one, great defensively, Koochie is spectacular, many contributions from ALMOST everybody (I’m lookin at you TiVo), they really gutted it out. But they should be able to put more pucks in the net, that will come back to haunt them if they don’t figure that out.
Everyone is slotted a line up, basically. Missing both 1C and 1W is a big, *big* deal.

Big win but I’m distracted now because someone on the Trade page called Hanifin a top 30 defenseman and said he was “so young” (he’s 25). Also, everyone still spells it Hanafin so that’s annoying too
Top 30... So a Number 1 on most teams... He's a #2/@3 I'd think.. Still pretty good but..

Hanifin may not be "so young", but he's young for a top-4 and defensively-sound lefty. Players like him at that age get considerable returns for a reason. Most teams don't have a top-4 group nearly as good as ours.

He's literally the new Jay Bouwmeester. Nothing wrong with that, that's a solid player and a solid career. But he was supposed to be a Duncan Keith and that's even who he said he modeled his game after.

Reactions: zman77 and Tryamw
I’ve come to enjoy the Wings broadcast, which has a conversational vibe similar to a baseball broadcast. It’s unique in the NHL and you get a strong feeling that there are things to be learned if you pay attention. They’re also one of the league‘s more neutral broadcasts in terms of giving equal perspective on both sides of the matchup.

I’m glad we played the Wings tonight, to hear their crew react in real time to Ovechkin’s goals. That has to be a really tough thing for the organization, seeing him creep inevitably up to pass Gordie Howe. Their reactions captured it perfectly, that sense of respect for both players and a bit of a tear shed for the past, but taking nothing away from the present. Very cool little moment in hockey history.
