Zadina didn't have anywhere near the pedigree that Michkov has. Zadina played well in Junior.I think it started out as Zadina, but as the days leading up the draft went on, there was too many hints that we were taking KK that the board flipped and was pro KK.
Of course I don't doubt some were Tkachuk fans, but they were very few and far between.
It will be interesting to see how the Michkov narrative changes over the years to come.

Michkov played well in Junior - and obliterated international tournaments 2 years before he was supposed to, and then was a force in the 2nd best league in the world, in his pre draft year, outperforming Ovechkin, Panarin, etc...
Also, Zadina had conditioning issues at the combine. Michkov is a training and practice freak.
Maybe Kobe Bryant is a better comparable than Zadina![]()
It's funny that Russian people think he's overrated lolI'm not comparing them. I've been one of the biggest Michkov supporters.
It's funny that Russian people think he's overrated lol
Apparently, he's been pushed as this next Russian star for a while and it's more hype than actual substance.
I'm just delivering the vibe, don't kill the messenger, please!![]()

As I said don't kill the messenger...More hype than substance, yet he beat Ovy at the same age in both MHL and KHL, which is a lot more substance than hype....
When people latch on to a narrative...
When Caufield beat Ovy for most goals at U18, was it more hype than substance?
He might be very good. But I just don’t get Leonard. He doesn’t have a classic package at all. Do you know a comparable to Leonard in the last 40 years?
What’s the gold standard for a player like that in the NHL?
-winger
-A good skater but not a big puck possession player
-Scores goals more than assists(since novice has never had more assists than goals ever)
-Good shooter adept at picking up junk around the net
-OK stickhandler
-Perhaps in the 5’11 to 6’0 range (we’ll know this week)
-Chases body checks
What are we talking about here???
There's this big interview with him that dropped a couple of days ago...
Too bad they don't have subtitles...Totally got every word of that....
Too bad they don't have subtitles...
Lmao, I know!Oh they do, buddy.... in RUSSIAN!
Usually the Monday before the draft, but with it being on a Wednesday it might come put the Friday beforeHow close to the draft does McKenzie's final ranking list usually come out?
If they liked Slaf as much as they did I can see why they’d like Leonard as well.I am on the Leonard bandwagon for our 5th OV pick. I also would not mind Reinbacher or Dvorsky.
Leonard is a helluva player.
I don't think its out of the question that Leonard ends up more productive than the likes of Carlsson or Smith to be honest.
Three more years of arguments.HuGo could very well just pick Michkov and shock everyone.
I don't see Suzuki's brand of hockey as soft. We're talking about the perfect guy to complete Caufield / Suzuki brand of pretty soft hockey.
Lol I thought Slafkovsky was drafted to complete that trio. Are we just going to keep drafting wingers for themWe're talking about the perfect guy to complete Caufield / Suzuki brand of pretty soft hockey.
No, we are drafting wingers for Dach as wellLol I thought Slafkovsky was drafted to complete that trio. Are we just going to keep drafting wingers for them![]()
I don’t have a problem with any of it. You ok bud?No, we are drafting wingers for Dach as well
Or do you have a problem with that too?
Or maybe we should be drafting a C for Dach. If you’re only winning 3.5/10 faceoffs, you shouldn’t be taking them. No, we are drafting wingers for Dach as well
Or do you have a problem with that too?
Yeah, thanks for chiming in lolOr maybe we should be drafting a C for Dach. If you’re only winning 3.5/10 faceoffs, you shouldn’t be taking them.
Soft hockey? No one is talking Drouin here................wow.We're talking about the perfect guy to complete Caufield / Suzuki brand of pretty soft hockey.
If you don't actually watch the games, then you may say Suzuki and CC play soft hockey.....I don't see Suzuki's brand of hockey as soft.
He can go onto the corners and come out with the puck. He can protect the puck well against the wall and make plays. Often when a defender is coming at him on the wall, he initiates contact with a reverse hit, bumping off the defender and giving himself time and space to make a play.
