with 6 years without real playoff with people in the stands, Molson need to cut money somewhere so no dinner thus year !
it seems that they have hired Pierre Gauthier to be in charge for the dinners . Instead of those expensive animal t-bone steaks , he bought a box of vegan cookies and some tofu to put on them . He’s offering one to each player before their interview . Better for the health, he said

People get mad if the discussion is not splitted between several threads. We even had people asking for a thread on each of the potential picks.

Tbh honest a lot of the draft guys on the board had Katchuk out of the top 10.
Nobody wanted Tkachuk. I think a few recommended him but they were quickly laugh at.

His only attributes were his intangibles and character. Of course now the narrative has changed and we should have drafted him but during the draft people would have lost their mind if we selected him.

The popular pick was Zadina.

Bedard/Fantilli.

Fantilli said he would let the team that draft him decide if he goes back to the NCAA or not.

Because most pundits are saying he will drop, it's what they hear hanging around the teams. I don't think his contract and nationality are the only reasons either.

There's been talk recently from (public) scouts that he didn't take the expected step in his development this season. It's very similar to Wright, but with added geopolitical context on top.

Lmao... he went from MHL to KHL and beat Ovy's PPG in both leagues at the same age, but he didn't take the next step? What a joke. That's what happens when people are caught-up in creating a narrative, believing it and then supplementing it with more manure so that it sticks.

Scouts looks at development curve more than point production and Michkov has apparently not improved that much over the last two years. Indication that he topped early, like a lots of scouts believe Wright did.

Leonard shows clear marked improved over the season and that is the primary reason he's climbing in the rankings right now.

Wright stayed in the same league. Michkov went from minors to the world's second best league FFS and didn't slow down. It's complete utter BS.

I think it started out as Zadina, but as the days leading up the draft went on, there was too many hints that we were taking KK that the board flipped and was pro KK.

Of course I don't doubt some were Tkachuk fans, but they were very few and far between.

It will be interesting to see how the Michkov narrative changes over the years to come.

Again, who gives a f*** about what the people here thought? They aren't the ones making a living doing stuff like this full time with unlimited resources. Why not compare to other teams scouts instead of some people leisurely posting on a hockey forum?
Might be time to look for something else to do rather than post in this abyss.

It was more that people believed Tkachuk had no offense, KK “might” develop offence in the NHL. It was none vs maybe.

The way I remember it ther's was a couple of group that year

- Pro-KK
- Pro-Zadina
- Pro-Tkachuk
- Anti-Tkachuk
- Any of the consensus top 4
- Outliers wanting someone ranked lower

But what's funny with Michkov......and sucks at the same time but it's actually part of the problem also.....we won't be able to say shit for 3 long years and maybe more.

KK vs Tkachuk started pretty much at year 1 cause they both started in the NHL but if the Habs pick him or not.....we won't know for 3 years if it was the right or wrong choice and we won't be able to compare either.

The other ”Michkov” pick is Reinbacher, Ds take forever to develop. By the time we know if it was a good pick, HuGo will be long gone.

I vaguely recall that ...

In 2012, Murray, Galchenyuk, Grigorenko, and Forsberg shared the hype.

In 2016, there was a lot of discussion of Tyson Jost, Logan Brown, and Michael McLeod.

In 2018, it was Zadina, Kotkaniemi, and Tkachuk.

Last year, the debate on here was on Slafkovsky versus Wright.

But this year it seems we're discussing a larger number of names.

After Kent's presser yesterday, I think most posters have resigned themselves that the choice will be Leonard unless one of Fantilli/Carlsson/Smith falls to the Habs somehow.

I remember mainly wanting Keller and McAvoy in 2016

In 2016 I really really wanted Keller and if not McAvoy I remember mocking them with optimism for us, mind you Sergachev turned out great too.
