Pronman is terrible btw he does not like character player, high compete players.

I just looked up his 2018 ranking for the laugh...
1. Dahlin
2. Svechnikov
3. Zadina
4. Kotkaniemi
5. Hughes
6. Wahlstrom
7. Boqvist
8. Bokk (yes Bokk!)
9. Tkachuk

He also had Farabee at 26 and most of the player listed above are not even close.
Tbh honest a lot of the draft guys on the board had Katchuk out of the top 10.

early on when we first found out we were picking 5, his comments made me think no way are they looking at him but he keeps repeating they will pick the most skilled guy and there's no way with a straight face he will be able to say that after the draft if they pass on Michkov for anyone not named Bedard, Fantilli, Smith, Carlsson.

I'm not sure why people automatically assume that Michkov will still be on the board at 5. It feels like Smith or Carlsson could be the guy left for Montreal too.

Probably has been asked and answered already but nonetheless, Of the consensus top 5 who if any will be NHL ready next season and which ones are definitely not available due to school etc.
Bedard/Fantilli.

Fantilli said he would let the team that draft him decide if he goes back to the NCAA or not.

Because most pundits are saying he will drop, it's what they hear hanging around the teams. I don't think his contract and nationality are the only reasons either.

There's been talk recently from (public) scouts that he didn't take the expected step in his development this season. It's very similar to Wright, but with added geopolitical context on top.

Obviously Bedard. But aside from him, I think Fantilli and Carlsson are probably the only others ready to step in the NHL right away.

Talent-wise, Michkov would, as well. But we know he won't be.

Honestly, this far out the pundits tend to be very off about what they're hearing, because the vast majority of teams haven't even finalized their lists or finished their meetings.

And I don't know which public scouts are saying that, but the Wright analogy makes no sense. Michkov had one of the best draft seasons we've seen from a European prospect, we just don't have the WJC/WC comparables because of geopolitical reasons. This isn't a Wright (or even a Tavares) situation.

so true. Katchuk was the absolute worst thing to select. There was guy i won’t name, that was blasting Timmins everyday because he knew he was their choice.

Now the same fans are whining because Timmins and Bergevin didn’t pick him 🤣

Scouts looks at development curve more than point production and Michkov has apparently not improved that much over the last two years. Indication that he topped early, like a lots of scouts believe Wright did.

Leonard shows clear marked improved over the season and that is the primary reason he's climbing in the rankings right now.

Bedard and Fantilli yes. I believe Carlsson could use one year in the AHL to be NHL ready. To have experience in playing in a NA Arena.

Huh? He was the best player on a KHL team. He has improved the last two years.

Michkov looks 5'9, even though he's listed as 5'10.

Too bad there will be no combine to get legitimate measurements.

Those are attributes about which data is gathered at the combine.

Would be nice but we won't have that option to review. Regardless, Michkov is about skating/skill and he will be a undersized forward. If he's on the board, I'd take him at 5. Him or Smith is what I would do.
