I heard one of the commentators in the Vegas-Colorado game call the North division, the Cookie division.

Were they the Knights commentators? I'm noticing they like to take a lot of shots at Canada. Probably still mad about thousands of Canadians turning T-Mobile into a home rink for the road team whenever a CDN team visits.

To be fair, most people aren’t talking about the Toronto Sun - which is all about clickbaity headlines and dramatic statements.

It’s more about perceived biases in the so-called national media outlets, real or not.

You have people arguing that every Canadian team should get equal billing and you have people pointing out that networks are driven by ad revenue and the larger fanbases will impact the content accordingly.

Well this is the issue, and some still don't understand it. A private corporation spent 5 BILLION on NHL rights. They have every right to make as much revenue back as possible. The Leafs bring in the crowds. But showing them more does not equal them loving the Leafs.
Unless suddenly the ridiculous % of the country moves out of Southern Ontario this will never change.
Leafs do get a TON of criticism, even when they are 1st overall.

They were seriously mad at that? Did they not expected there to be fans of those Canadian teams in Las Vegas since it was already a tourist destination, so they make it a mini vacation and see them play.

People outside Ontario don't hate the Leafs because the local media is toxic. We don't really care, shit like that happens in Vancouver, Montreal, New York too and I'm assuming probably places like Ottawa, Alberta, Chicago, Detroit and any other hockey-focused market. Has a lot more to do with the national media (TSN, SNET, HNIC) that is supposedly NATIONAL focuses so much on Toronto-based sports. Not just the Leafs, but Raptors and Jays too.

Back in the day when Sportsnet's nightly highlight show was localized we'd still often get Leafs/Raptors/Jays highlights before the local team of any sport.
So how come there was some Canucks fans who blamed the Leafs for those 4:00 PM PST start times on a Saturday when Toronto played in Vancouver.

Lots of fans don't get it or don't want to. It comes down to Leafs immense popularity, so they'd rather side step it

Yeah can't speak for the other Cdn teams but after the first time the Oilers played there (a 3-2ot win and CM's birthday) some Vegas fans had a hissy fit. One woman even wrote to the Edmonton Journal claiming Oilers fans were the most awful boorish people she had ever encountered.

I think she was just REALLY mad Oilers fans outcheered Vegas fans in their own building. Our fans even loudly sang happy birthday to McDavid lol

2:40 Caggiula goal
3:35 Nurse goal

The last time Toronto played in Vegas and won during the 2018-19 Season, there was a lot of Leafs fans you see celebrate each time they scored goal.

BTW, it's annoying they always schedule the Leafs/Knights on a holiday to make the game so much more expensive for fans travelling. WE know why they do it.

So that means the majority of the country has to not only accept it, but like it? When their needs are not met in the same way as a certain portion of the country?

Why wouldn't it be in Rogers' best interest for every market to receive the same attention that the Leafs get?

Statements like "The Leafs bring in the crowds" is pure hubris. What percentage of the markets do you think are Leaf-centric outside southern Ontario? They may be pockets on the East coast or up north, but certainly not anywhere near an NHL arena.

The best possible thing Rogers could do is go back to each market having a local-based channel. In BC on a game-night we get 5 minutes at most of pre-game coverage. Maybe 2/3 of each intermission dedicated to game coverage with the other 1/3 league highlights out of Toronto. The game ends, and right back to Toronto.

Because ratings will drop as will commercial revenue. They are in the business of making money after they invested billions.
This is just the way things are. The Jets and Sens aren't paying the bills. You have like 40% of the entire population in Ontario

Why do you think that?

You don't think more people would watch a channel that had MORE local content rather than less?

Leafs get the highest ratings. we've been through this before. Every Leaf article gets the most hits and comments by far. Everything Leaf s sells more. I can't believe people dispute this.
Ratings are done horribly on Saturdays whenever Leafs don't play.

Sure if you only look at national rates. Do you think the Leafs out-perform the Canucks, Flames, Oilers, Jets or Habs in those markets?
