They got the donuts? Excellent....
How do the refs continue to fall for Tkachuks embellishment after all these years?

It's incredible

For two reasons:
  1. It's not embellishment. It's just that you know less about the rules than the refs but mistakenly believe it's the other way around.
  2. It hasn't been all these years. He's still on his entry level contract. Or are you mistaking Brady with his father?

1. So it's never embelishment if the refs don't call it? Like if I murder someone it's not illegal if I don't get caught or convicted?
2. MATTHEW has played 4 full seasons now and is in his 5th. He is not a new player. Everyone (players, fans, refs) know what he is at this point. It was clear after like 2 seasons what kind of player he was, if not sooner. In fact I wasn't too upset with the Canucks passing on him for Juolevi because it was clear in junior what kind of player he was. Turns out he is more skilled than I thought at the time but his style has been obvious for a long time.

Then why is the Leafs GDT freaking out over one lost against the Sens? A Leaf supporter suggested I check the Leaf board so I did tonight. LOL! The panic in the Leafs GDT is hilarious considering how well the Leafs have done this year. On the main board many Leaf fans are full of confidence and love to shoot down any criticism of their team but on their own board it is panic city after one lost to Ottawa.

BTW I am a Jet fans that thinks the Leafs are probably the best team in the division.
While the Leafs GDT is always wildly entertaining after a loss, the real laughs over the last couple of days are in their John Tavares Apprecition thread.

The vibe in this thread is a lot different now. It’s the sound of Leaf fans being humbled.

This thread evolves on a day to day basis.

It wasn't long ago that Montreal was the toast of the division and purveyor of main board threads.

While funny, ultimately Toronto still got a point and the only thing they'll be evaluated on this year is their playoff performance.

Thankfully Senators fans got a pretty amazing experience to help offset the memories of that road trip our West when we still had Brayden Coburn and Josh Brown playing regularly on D.

The Leafs loss last night was quite hilarious (and painful as someone who had money on them), but ultimately won't matter that much. It's a bit emblematic of their play being worse than their records, but it wasn't like Ottawa stormed back. The Leafs just gifted them 3 goals with mental errors. And while you don't really want to blame Andersen for not stopping breakaways...good goalies do stop those more often than not.

Really the more consequential loss was Saturday against Montreal. If they close that out in regulation, it's a pretty big help in keeping Montreal below them in the standings.

You have to read it for a few consecutive games and note the chicken littles that come out after losses and disappear after wins.

I see that on the Jets board also. It seems some fans are never happy unless they are constantly criticizing the team, the coach, the GM or the ownership. They seem to be never happy with any aspect of the team organization no matter how many games their team wins.

The one constant on this board is I found that every fan base seems to hate their coach and want him replaced no matter what position their team is in their division.

I noticed that too. There are just terrible teams where it's thought the #1 issue to turning it around is firing the coach.

Keefe really doesn't get much hate on the Leafs board tbh. Andersen, Tavares, Nylander, Rielly, Dubas are the targets in order I would say (whether deserving or not)

It's way too soon for Keefe and his results are too strong to blame him yet for anything.

The only criticism I have seen of Keefe on the Leafs board was not starting Matthews and Marner in their overtime loss against Edmonton, although I think he admitted that to being a mistake after the game.

I think way too much teeth gnashing is going on re the Leaf’s loss to Ottawa. Performance so far has that team as the best in the Division. All teams have stinkers once in a while.

This reminds me of one of my Mom’s seemingly ridiculous sayings. “You’re not happy unless you’re miserable”.

Sorry to be that person but does anyone mind explaining this chart?

I’m guessing be the closest to the middle is the best?

Top right is best.
  • Top left, few chances at both ends
  • Bottom left, allow many chances, generate few
  • Top right, generate many chances, allow few
  • Bottom right, many chances at both ends

With only intra-league play I wouldn't even bother cross-division comparisons, they might as well be seperate leagues.
