It's kind of nice being on the main boards right now, other teams fans actually think we're better than our own board lol.
Yeah, the most popular topic last 2 days was Morgan Rielly and how Leafs are doomed he's leaving in 2 years LOL. Team is 1st overall and people are talking about 2 years from now, and an issue all teams face.

lol so there is one post by someone who is a good poster but an unabashed homer. Now all Leaf fans share a single opinion.

Reminds me of this scene:

so before it was nobody said that find me the quote, then its well its only one poster.... and no it wasnt only him im at work so did a quick research but there was a few others also but dont come in here telling me im coming up with BS i would never do that

I can't recall the thornton anderson post youre referring too but the amount of posters who tried to roast the anderson deal and who are real quiet now is pretty funny, that said im pretty sure most leafs fans , like habs fans, have had a huge hard on for anderson for years just like us lol

Through fourteen games, the Leafs have the 7th best GA/GP in the league with 2.57, which puts them in 1st in the division. Flames are 8th in the league with 2.62. The Leafs also rank 1st in the division and 6th in the league for shots against/game, with 27.9. The Habs are 2nd in the divison and sit 11th in the league with 28.8. Andersen only has a .908sv% so far, so those numbers aren't just from goaltending either.

While the defensive struggles of the division are well known, there is plenty of offensive firepower to go around. The Leafs have been the class of the division defensively so far. Put that in your pipe and smoke it for a bit.

Oh I don't doubt you, I just think you are taking a couple opinions and aplpying them to everyone. I bet if I looked hard enough, I would find Hab fans that said Matthews would never score 40, Marner was a bust, etc etc.

It's not that it wasn't said, it's that you intentionally took a fringe opinion and applied it across a huge group. It's a pretty common tactic used by people looking to belittle/disenfranchise another group in the minds of others, but those of us with a brain see right through it.

For the record...we all do it. I am sure I've done it too. I'm just bored at work and the idea that most Leaf fans think Anderson = Thornton is laughable. Our board is gushing constantly over Anderson.

You aren't wrong, many of us across the league are eating crow. With that being said, it's been 12 games, and they signed a very long contract. Claiming victory on that one might be premature. I'd agree that it's looking like a master stroke by MB right now, though.

They are very good defensively. And keep in mind, those numbers are with average at best goaltending overall.

Is there an easy way to look at standings with one or more teams taken out?
w/ Ottawaw/o Ottawa
Toronto11-2-110-1-1
Montreal8-4-27-3-2
Edmonton9-75-7
Winnipeg8-4-14-4-1
Calgary7-5-17-5-1
Vancouver6-113-11
[TBODY] [/TBODY]

Take out Vancouver as well and then everyone apart from Toronto is around .500.

In fairness, if Nylander was just the most shocking contract ever at 6.9. it makes sense a one time 40 point player gets a little heat for a 7 year deal at 5.5 per, which took him to age 33.

I am still shocked by Calgary. I really felt like that team would be the cream of the crop in our division.

Calgary fans - what have been the 3 biggest issues with the team so far?

I tend to read more than I post, but its funny to see this thread go quiet when Gods team, center of the universe, hockey mecca, etc lay a beatdown on the division. This is good. I want silence!

man honestly I didn’t think it was going to be that big of a swing but good lord.

I didn’t realize how much Winnipeg had already beat up on the sens. Edmonton too. That’s pretty ugly

I think the Jets are the other team to watch out for come playoff time. They have a Vezina goalie and a lot of firepower upfront.

Unless they improve their D core, I have a really hard time seeing them contend. Helle can only do so much. They actually have a higher xGA than Ottawa, and I would say they've played better than expected so far.

Calgary fans - what have been the 3 biggest issues with the team so far?
1. Consistency.
2. Offence - the depth has struggled bad to generate. Nordstrom, Leivo, Ryan, Simon, Bennett have a combined 5 points. And even then Bennett’s 2 points have come on the 1st line.
3. The Flames are notoriously slow starters and an early 5 days off compounded that.

They’re starting to get some things turned around. Getting bailed out by Markstrom early has been big and puts them in a decent position to really turn things around once it starts to click.

Ya, the Sens are a bad team. Imagine being .500 against them.

oh 100% im sure after our first 10 games theres atleast one habs fans who said Suzuki is or will be better then Matthews but if someone would post that on our boards he would get quoted right away, when The Podium made that post he got quoted a few times but people were agreeing with him nobody pointed him on the Anderson = Thornton comment, you would think that a post with 16 pages would atleast have a few people telling him to chill with that comment but not one so that shows that ur leafs board didnt worship Anderson the way you're saying,he even said Muzzin = Petry but ill let that one fly cuz Muzzin is a really good def and would love him on the habs

I mean the leafs arent winning anything anytime soon so im sure the doom and gloom on your main board is well warranted

That's what they said about the Blues and the Caps and the Lightning (after they lost to Columbus 1st round).

Basically this is said about every NHL team including all Canadian teams.

Try some sort of thought provoking analysis about the teams and why the Leafs aren't going to win.
