Is there an easy way to look at standings with one or more teams taken out?
w/ Ottawaw/o Ottawa
Toronto11-2-110-1-1
Montreal8-4-27-3-2
Edmonton9-75-7
Winnipeg8-4-14-4-1
Calgary7-5-17-5-1
Vancouver6-113-11
[TBODY] [/TBODY]
Take out Vancouver as well and then everyone apart from Toronto is around .500.

Ugh you know what sucks most about this. We already know the Leafs and Habs will likely only go 6 - 4 or 5 - 4 - 1 against Ottawa while all Western Canadian teams will go 8 - 1.

From playing them 5 times there biggest issue is they have a lack of scoring. They are hard to play against and have a great goalie. Lack a pure sniper IMO.
I agree with that. The Flames only threat from far out is Lindholm and he's being tasked with a lot of shutdown minutes with Tkachuk struggling. We see it on the PP with his goals but at 5v5 he's against top lines and isn't getting the space needed to score with his shot (apart of that blame I feel is on Tkachuk since he is a guy you'd epxected to create space for Lindholm but he has not been dangerous looking at all.)

Also hurts that Monahan for some reason can't find the back of the net even in close anymore. He's been getting a lot of chances in tight but his automatic shot from in tight just ain't hitting the same so far. Then their only scoring threat in the bottom 6 is Mangiapane rn. Hopefully they figure it out but the lack of scoring might be a result of being tough to play against

I mean the leafs arent winning anything anytime soon so im sure the doom and gloom on your main board is well warranted
Yup. Needs to get out of the division with teams like Montreal first to start playing teams that are worthy. I'm thinking the real leaf winning begins sometime in June.

I'm optimistic this far about the Jets, but also realize half our wins are against OTT, but on the other hand, a lot of our other points are against CGY who many picked to be at or near the top. I think we find out who the Jets really are during a 3 week stretch starting on Feb 25th - March 17th. We play Montreal (x6), Toronto (x3) and Vancouver (x2) - the only teams the Jets have yet to beat this season (or play - Montreal)

What would an All Team North Division squad look like?

Matthews - MacDavid - Marner
Connors - Drasaitl - Scheifele
Boeser - Pettersson - Ehlers
JG - Lindholm - B. Tkachuk

Chabot - Petry
Morrissey - Nurse
Q. Hughes -Tanev

Helle
Markstrom

That's my best shot. Tough not to have M. Tkachuk, Nylander, PLD and Tavares in there.

An All Star game certainly would have been interesting this year with the shake up in divisions.

Cool so you can't provide it. You make the claim, you back it up.
I did already not my fault u didnt read previous posts

The Podium was the poster and the thread was its almost time..Habs Vs Leafs on page 7

F
Matthews >> Suzuki
Marner >>> Drouin
Thornton = Anderson

Tavares >> Danault
Nylander = Gallager
Vesey << Tatar

For a fanbase that laughs at Thornton/Vesey being in the top 6, are they aware that Josh Anderson had 1 goal last season?

i made the claim and i backed it up

Just a horrible Dcore.

It certainly could be a lot better.
They are really just one top 4 D-man from having an adequate defense.
Morrissey has been under-performing trying to carry Beaulieu around who has no business being any where near a top pair or that many minutes.

Poolman is back from COVID and again is not good enough for that top pair but certainly a big improvement over Beauliue. Pionk and Forbort have been fine as a 2nd pair and the Jets have plenty of talent for a 3rd pair (currently Stanley who has impressed and Demelo).

Can Chevy add a better D-Man through a trade?
I'm skeptical that can be done without paying a huge price.

Internally they have Heinola and Samberg.
Heinola as shown to easily be top 3 or better on the team yet has only played one game.
The prevailing sentiment is that management is hellbent on sliding his ELC contract.
Samberg is another top prospect who we have yet to see who should be better then some of what we have.

With the goalie and forwards the Jets have they don't need the greatest d-core just an average one. We'll see if the group can improve to that level.

The Jets 2018 D-Core would be an interesting look with the rest of the roster.
Hell just give us Buff finishing out his contract.
We're missing a top pair RHD and a PP QB... he would help with that a lot.

Who would have thought that Keefe playing Matthews and Marner together would be a good thing and yet Babcock was too stubborn to try it more than once.
Yeah totally, no one thought playing Marner with Matthews would be a good thing.

Are you intentionally spelling the non leaf players names wrong? Or just really have no idea?

No you have provided what you believe they said. A link or quote would back it up, but I've lost interest in this. No one believes current Thorton = current Anderson. There was a long standing thread about Petry being an early Norris favorite, which we will all see is ridiculous. He is a good Dman that had a hot start, that's it.

It's not that fun when the Leafs just run away with the division, hopefully one of the other teams can catch fire and give them some competition.

Thorton is old and although still good, I would compare Simmonds to Anderson instead. I think a healthy Simmonds brings more to the table overall than Anderson. I don't believe Anderson will keep up this pace or stay healthy long term (not that I would ever wish injury, I am glad he is doing well)

In the same breath Simmonds is also hurt but at least it was a freak injury and not anything to do with the pelvis injury he had before.

Both need to stay healthy lol

Nylander and Gally are two different players and both are better at different things.

Vesey is actually good without the puck but that's it lol he will be replaced by Robertson or engvall (or by the team bringing in more top 6 talent like is being reported)

Habs and Jets will be there in the end. I am also not sleeping on the Flames or Oil (although I think Edmonton will fade down the stretch)

I also think Toronto will go through it's slump, especially with injuries right now.
