Formenton uses his speed, stops on a dime and sets up (Team Canada Player) for a grade A chance. Guy missed the net.

The Formenton-Suzuki and Frost-Studnicka duos look real good with each other.

End of 2. 2-1 Canada. Shots 20-25 after 2, apparently Usports had 18 in the second.

Frost, Lafreniere and Studnicka have looked good. I think Frost is playing his way onto the team, I was hesitant to put him on the team because he didn't look as good as I expected in the Super Series or Summer Showcase, but he looks good here.

I didn't notice anyone standing out in a bad way that period. Formenton's speed is an asset, he drew that first penalty by himself. USports throwing a lot of pucks at the net from distance. A little more physical from Canada in that period with Lafreniere and Dellandrea laying into players at different times.

I'm skeptical of the shot totals. The announced numbers from the first and second periods for both teams don't add up.

Bernard-Docker sweeps a puck off the goal line after defending well against a 2 on 1. Scott had a little trouble handling the shot.

Addison gets an assist added for the first goal.

Absolutely brutal turnover on the power play leads to a breakaway against. Not sure who turned it over, might have been Dobson.

U Sports deserved the tying goal, the Canadian juniors got very lazy and could barely complete a pass or skate the puck into the U Sports end. Very scrambly.

What do we make of the choice to sit
Comtois, Glass, Tippett, Ratcliffe, Hayton, Vilardi, Anderson-Dolan tonight?

Formenton hurt after a great rush in overtime... hopefully not serious. Limps off the ice and down the tunnel.

They were going to have a shootout regardless of the score at the end of regulation, but Canada wins it in the shootout.

Formenton, Frost, Lavoie, Suzuki, Studnicka and Bernard-Docker looked real good. No one looked absolutely terrible, but I thought Crotty and Dobson struggled. None of the goalies were tested an awful lot, but Dipietro was the best of the three. Looked very calm, no issues with rebound control, whereas Villalta and Scott had trouble handling a number of shots.

Bowers scored the winner in the shootout against Villalta on what looked like a fan on his shot. Veleno, Frost and Lafreniere with nice goals in the shootout. Studnicka, Dellandrea and Suzuki with nice moves but no goals. Lavoie and Leason with poor efforts. Scott let in one bad goal on a flubbed poke check.

Worrying about Formenton though. He was flying down the ice during 4 on 4, made one move around a defender, but ran into the second one. Limped off the ice. Looked like a knee issue to me. Hopefully just something he needs to ice down.
