I have no idea why Formenton was even playing in a game like this where injuries are a risk; he’s a lock for the roster.

I mean they all need to get in games. He probably wasn't going to play the next game and Comtois would slide in.
I can understand your frustration, but Team Canada actually tried leaving their locks off the ice in these games a few years ago and I recall it having some pretty negative results. There were accusations that complacency had set in... not to mention a bit of rust. Guys need to play. It's hockey and there will always be risks.
One play, yes.
I still find it absolutely amusing though that HF was all over the Oil for selecting Bouchard over Dobson.
This tournament will show clearly who the superior player is.

one tournament proves diddly squat, especially 18 and 19 year old players with a long development road ahead of them.
when both players are 23-24 years old with 4-5 years of NHL experience Bouchard may very well be the better player, but the opposite is just as likely. My money is still on Dobson being the better player at that time. but Bouchard will be a dandy in Edmonton, I'm sure.

Different teams have different roster decision days. Canada will cut some guys after these Usports games and then probably the rest after their 2nd exhibition game. However, they are know to tinker with the formula, so it may be an entirely different pattern this year.

In the past couple years I think Canada has for the most part just made all there cuts after the camp and taken the team as it is into the pre tournament games....I can see them changing that this year having 3 forwards that would be on the team if healthy dealing with injuries though.
Yes, the injuries are definitely going to play havoc with the decision making through this process.
