I see that he has 4 goals and 6 points so far in his first 3 games with Windsor.

Anyone watching his games able to comment on how he's looked so far?

Good - not fantastic. Two of the goals have been empty netters. He has been playing his usual solid two way game.

One thing that he has done in Windsor is that his presence on the ice has allowed more time and space for his teammates - his repuration has definitely precededed him so far. He’s not flashy or outright dominant, just solid. Typical Shane Wright stuff to be perfectly honest.

Damn...the post about him being able to play that weekend gave me false expectations
He did come back that weekend - but he must have tweaked his injury and left after the first period and didn’t come back and hasn’t been back since.

Should note he had 3 points in that one period he played.

Funny for all those complaining about his production last year he has a line of 14-12-15-27 this year to go along with 4 goals in 5 AHL games.

The kid is going to be a very good NHLer.
He suffered from the same thing that happened to Sean couturier, people saw 96 pts and a surefire #1 pick and then after he replicated his numbers at 18 and fell in the draft people suddenly thought he was a career 3rd liner. Sure it took time but he eventually became that #1 selke winning centre he was capable of becoming.

Being too good too young can be a bit of a curse because they expect you to make massive jumps every year in a linear fashion when in reality most prospects have lots of ups and downs and no trajectory is identical.

I too still think wright can be a very good NHL player , maybe not the elite #1 C some people saw 2 years ago but still a star player IMO

I also think the problem with Wright is people expect highlight reel or dynamic end to end rush type goals from anyone who is a high draft pick, and since that's not his game, he gets even more hate than he otherwise would have for his production.

If he was skating around like Robbie Schremp/Josh Ho-Sang out there and scored 90+ points, folks would be salivating. But because he gets his points by ho-hum being positional, then that adds to this idea his offensive upside is incredibly limited.

I think you are very right. I will be honest, while watching his goals he makes them look easy. Almost too easy. Like you said, his positioning is so good that his goals look like he is really not doing much. I was looking at his hat trick goals and was thinking, man there is nothing special to any of these goals. So boring.

Is he simular to a Nico Hischier ? Plays a very good two-way game, plays hard , has skill but doesnt have a flashy game . Produces very well but doesnt have many jaw dropping plays ?
I love Nico amd what he brings . IMO teams need a layer like that in theor lineup

He's an 04 that's really an 03 based on his date of birth, so I think that got him a bit overrated a bit as a young player, but he will be a good player as he is proving this year, just not the one he was hyped at during the younger ages. He was just a victim of the own hype train more than anything. But now that he only went 4th I think the expectations are more neutered and appropriate.

Maybe similar in terms of impact, but I think Hischier was a more dynamic prospect. Wright seems more like a really good "wingman" to a true star player.

He is going to be a fine second line center, he improved and adressed to some extend the flaws in his game from his draft year, I think practicing and playing some games with NHLers made him realize how to play the right way, dropping at the draft was also the best thing that could happen for him, in his head, he was already a superstar, a generational, what he isnt.
