From my understand averaging 2 points a game in the WHL is no easy feat. Thats stuff you see in the QMJHL.
If you average out his total to 28 games he would be the leading scorer in the WHL right now.
Small-ish sample size, but it's still the highest PT/G in the W this year. So, by definition, that's really good. The fact that he scored 5 pts in his first 6 AHL games corroborates that this is legit. As does the eye test. Very excited to see him at the WJC and next year.He was at 2.2 points/game going into yesterday's game. As WHLers go, if he were to keep up his pace, it would be one of the better WHL seasons in that regard in the last 15 years.
Edit - now down to 2.18 after last night's 2 assist game.
He has clearly outgrown his league, and epitomizes the glaring flaw in the CHL-NHL agreement regarding AHL eligibility.Shame this kid was forced into the WHL this season. He's obviously ready for pro hockey, even if not quite ready for the NHL.
LBI and will be getting an MRI tomorrow. Canada fears his tournament is done.
This kid cannot beat the injury bug. I think it’s time to probably package him up for something out there.

Well... f***.
Somebody in the replies earlier said something about him potentially getting injured in a celebration?
Looks like it was getting a two-hander on the knee from Forsfjall in the Canada-Sweden prelim game that Savoie is dealing with. He might play.
he’s my preferred trade chip whether he’s prone to injury or not soNO IT MEANS HE'S INJURY PRONE AND LET'S DUMP HIM WHILE WE CAN
Can you imagine if they had been able to trade Benson, too?Kinda solves the Wild’s draft pick issue.
Savoie, Yager, Firkus and Mateychuk on the PP going to be pretty fun.
