Quiet night until 22 seconds left, feeds Mateychuk in the slot for the go-ahead goal 5-4. He's back to playing center (was last couple games too), rather than being on the wing with Firkus and Yager (Rysavy back to that spot).

Edit - and the Tigers tie it back up with a goal 8 seconds later. Going to overtime.

I’m so envious of Pittsburg with Yager.

Just deflected a puck to a Tiger who scores to tie the game. Not his best night tonight.

Edit - worse, follow through on a shoot in and he gets a high sticking penalty.

Edit 2 - even worse, MJ scores 7 seconds into the PP.

First time in Moose Jaw and only second time since going back to the WHL that he was held off the scoresheet.

I really wanted him to get a look with the big club. He got done dirty. I think he is on the Sabres roster next year for sure.

I'll say maybe. He looked like he was on the verge of something when he got hurt. He'd be in Benson's spot IMO if the injury didn't happen.

He bounced back from a couple of weaker games against Medicine Hat to get back at it this past week and MJ are using him at center after he was playing Geekie's wing in Wenatchee.

He was dressed for a game got 3 minutes and was sent back.

And missing all the time in camp and to open the season isn't mutually exclusive of that point. If he's healthy, plays well in camp, then it's likely that he's in Benson's spot in the lineup. How much he played in the taste game doesn't take away from him having lost a the window to earn a spot out of camp.

I think it was pre-determined he was going back when he missed camp. I just don't think it would have hurt to get him an actual game or two instead of some of the crap we iced. He had a 9 game opportunity.

Nah, I think Benson is the outlier with this organization. I think they're going to slow cook Savoie and start him in Rochester.....then if he earns the time in Buffalo (like RJ did this year), then he'll get it.

But given how stacked the forward pipeline is, I think Kulich and Rosen get legit chances to stick before Savoie does.

I would (and have) used those exact lines on Benson, yet here he is. This team will 100% give it to the best prospect out of camp first. Don't forget Savoie is the same draft year as Kulich so he has been slow cooking in WHL.

I still think he's going to be better than Benson. Some guys are just on different development curves. He needs to be a part of the new core because I don't feel certain that Tuch or Skinner are on the roster next year and Kulich is...still figuring it out.
