I think Habs fans should be happy if he hits his ceiling around a dick tarnstrom level player. He had the skills to do it I think, probably

he's staying consistent which is a big plus for a rookie. he could be a poor mans karlsson. if the habs can land a top pair shutdown dman they would have a great pair.

So quinn hughes was the best defensive defenseman on the canucks in his rookie year?
Ok so you did not seen him in his own zone that season right..

I did and he was awful..so soft.

Hudson is way better
Much, much better than Hutson, yes. You can be excited for a player without making up nonsense. He’s terrible defensively now on the worst defensive team in the league. Not really surprising for a 5’2 rookie defenseman. Let him develop before you crown him.

You didn’t answer my question
Was quinn hughes the best defensive defenseman on the canucks during his rookie season as your xga stat suggests?

Are they? They clearly were the first 10 or so games but right now I doubt it. Also, Hutson isn't terrible defensively.

He was better than Hutson defensively, which is the relevant point. Whether expected goals tell the full story or not doesn’t matter — he was not bleeding nearly as many chances as Lane is.

Looks like Quinn was giving up a team low 2.46 xGA/60. Lane is giving up a team high 3.1 xGA/60.
LOL the infamou s xGA/60. Was Hughes playing against the top lines? 22 to 24 mins a game? Were the Canucks bottom 5 in the league? Can't compare those stupid stats unless its players on the same team playing on the same line in the same year.

I saw Hughes in his rookie season and he had a far better cast around him and his xGA screams sheltering. You don't get the best xGA on a defensive squad as a rookie without sheltering. You could literally see it when the following season he was less sheltered and his ES xGA climbed to 3.04:

That might be debatable, but Hughes subsequent rise to the top of of the league for defensive reliability is an extremely rare circumstance for a player his size. Like, it's almost never happened.
Hughes is able to do that because of his speed. Hutson will never get there but I'm pretty confident he'll end up average defensively

Still avoiding the question i see

Maybe stop posting advanced stats without context to promote an agenda if you’re not ready to get called out on them

“Bleeding chances “ is highly dependent on what kind of team you play for, usage, teammates etc.

Posting xga/60 without context is dishonest, but you already knew that

What?

Hutson is shit defensively, he'd be better as a forward.

McDavid is pretty great at offense, him being a forward makes sense.
You’re just as bad as the crosby fans that use the same boneheaded intangibles argument that was used against them with toews that they now use to suggest that crosby is better than mcdavid.

Years of hearing idiots say “karlsson should be a forward “ has rotted your brain to the point that you think it’s a valid suggestion for lane hutson.

Go demonstrate hockey knowledge elsewhere
