Gets stopped on a late 3-on-1 shorthanded rush and is going to the box to put MJ down by 2 men as the first period ends.

I would trade Savoie or Kulich plus a lotto protected first to get Andersson.

Those two are weirdly my untouchables lately. Benson is...fine. I don't know that his ceiling is anywhere that we anticipated coming out of training camp. Rosen does nothing for me still.

Ostlund is very important and next year needs to make a next step up but Savoie and Kulich are the ones I'd hold onto first and foremost. Kulich still can tilt the ice against grown men and Savoie is more dynamic than Benson. I'd take my chances on them before any other prospects.

2-3-5 last night in a 9-4 win. That pushes him to 47 points in 23 games since returning to the WHL:

Just for some comparison, other 19-year old players best seasons in points per game over the last 12 years:

Not a guarantee judging by the points/game production of some never-weres, some also-rans and some depth guys... I was hoping for a clearer picture to feel better about him. I think I would still look at putting him into a trade to help now and in the near future. And if they don't, he certainly gets around into harder to play areas and makes plays in small areas and tight spaces at speed that they could use.

OT, but I can't believe Sven Baertschi didn't pan out. Dude was so silky smooth.

MJ out to a 6-0 lead and Savoie hasn't hit the scoreboard yet. Shots were 24-5 in the first in favor of the Warriors. It's 3-1 in shots in the 2nd period... and 2 of those 3 went in.

Slacker, just finally got his first point... scores the 9th MJ goal.

(That is sarcasm, it's a rough night for Spokane all around.)

I'd hoped to see more of Catton again tonight but man, this is a pummeling. Moose Jaw is now up 10-2 heading into the third.

This was Matt's goal -

I missed the unsportsmanlike conduct that put him in the box to begin with.

Did he count the right games this time?

:D

He's odd in that he doesn't compare players from similar leagues. Savoie to Barzal or Point or even Krebs and Steenbergen I get but Zegras? I don't see the comp.
Maybe he's trying to prove the point of NHLe, making performances across leagues equivalent. Savoie's and Zegras' Star and NHLer Probabilities graphs are nearly identical though, so I get why he showed them.

I guess. I'm still salty at him for the NTDP counting error from a few years ago, I admit.

For sure, I don't have much regard for Bader and his simplistic metric either. Just wanted to show that there's still optimism out there as Savoie keeps scoring, following Button's "list."

Oh, I don't have as much concern about Savoie being not a player based on Craig's List. :D But I do get how some might clutch some pearls over it.

Since November of 2022, I've watched more of Savoie than any other Sabre amateur prospect. I have no doubt he's going to be a player and there is moxie enough there where a snub on a national list like that is going to be personal fuel for him.

I understand the criteria but seeing Raffi Torres listed as a comparable player in any way to Savoie is hilarious

Yeah, that one is kind of wild - not just a winger but someone from 25 years ago.

Is geekie good now, or is he just still bigger than most people and older now?

I think Geekie was always a good prospect, but still has moments when he's sleepy and doesn't impose. He's smoothed some of that out, but it's still something that makes me wonder about him. The move to the Broncos has been interesting - I've seen him a couple times and he dropped a 4-assist game on the Warriors.

Not really. His ceiling is a weaker version of Mitts with a bit more dog in him like Tuch. Great vision good at the little things. Not above average shot/goal scoring. Average speed (quick start/stop). 20-40 maybe is his ceiling?

Why anyone would even consider trading their 9th overall pick (Savoie) without even a look on the big club is beyond me. KA will never do it. He was picked 9th for a reason and is showing it. Our prospect pool currently has one player with top line production potential, why would we trade him?
