I've always likened his game to that of Eric Staal. Big powerful skater with good hands, sound passing and powerful shot.
Better skater, and two way game. Maybe a better passer. If he has Eric's shot and scoring ability then the Kings have a winner.

I'm not too worried overall about him being "better" than Laf or Stutzle, or being best from this draft. I'm more hoping for Conn Smythe, best in a particular year's playoffs. Kopi never won a Hart but I'm more than happy with his two-time leading playoff scorer.

I'm all about playoff hardware. LA has graduated from hoping for regular season, individual player accolades to having high playoff expectations.

I'm just going to say it now. If he has a phenomenal game. I'll be happy. If he has a bad game, I'll be hopeful.

What I won't do is draw conclusions as to his career outlook after 10-15 minutes of ice time.
Nope... if he struggles in first game as an 18 year old.... the rest of his career is going straight to the dump as per HFboards rules.

Just like the WJC everyone is watching him tonight so get ready for at least six month of hot takes in either direction because someone watched him once in January 2021 and once in April 2021.

He's already beaten the odds by getting the call. Anything positive that comes out is a bonus. Its rare a guy this raw plays as an 18 year old. His lasting positive impression on the league will span across many facets. Stardust!

Good luck Quint!

He's made some killer plays, much more decisive at this level already. Not surprising that he's better when the game has 'flow' and there's top-level puck support. Should be on the scoresheet, but looking good. Had more icetime than Kopitar at 1 point, and was 5 of his last 6 faceoffs.

He was very noticeable tonight, good debut. He looks like he weighs 160 pounds and has Kevin Durant body frame though

His puck skills were better than I anticipated. Same with his passing. At times he just stood in front of the net doing nothing and at other times he did a good job jumping into the soft spots (which led to a few scoring chances). Looks like he will be an absolute beast on the forecheck and defensively because of his size speed and agility.

Definitely better than I thought he would look

Lmao!

On one hand, he looks like the biggest dude on the ice.

On the other, he might be your 6'6" high school goalie friend who looks 250 but its' all pads

Yeah if it weren't for John Gibson, he'd have a goal or point or two already.

He definitely had some jump tonight. You can tell if he needs to take over a game he will have the ability to do so. Just needs to bulk up. Skill wise, I was surprise to see his quickness on this level. Seems to be already at the NHL pace.
