Averaging 4 points a game. For that 4 goal statistic, is there a statistic of how old were the players at the time of scoring?
Technically, this is not even the last eligible WJC for McT

Last night Slovaks were weirdly pressuring only Bedard that allowed McTavish to just free roam and here's the result.

In the OHL playoffs/MC delivered when his team needed him the most, will be interesting to watch how he plays with more meaningful games coming up (starting from Finland on Monday)

We do know that Connor Bedard was the youngest, so that would skew the results a bit. The others where M. Lemieux (1983) Simone Gagne (1999) Brayden Schenn (2010) Taylor Raddysh (2016) Maxime Comtois (2018) and now McTavish (August '22)

Do the math. I'm referencing only the players to score 4 goals in a game. not average 4 pts per game 2 games in to a 7 game tournament.

Gagne had two good seasons, more of an outlier than anything else. Schenn I would say is above average but below “really good”.

Considering some of the great Canadian players we’ve had…. That’s underwhelming

All star caliber and very good are being quite generous for Gagne and Schenn

Ducks look like they have a gem in McTavish though

Its more like 5 - He was an All star in 01, made the Olympic team in 02, 59 and 66 pts in the early 00s was really good. Then he had his b2b 40 goal seasons in 06 and 07, and in 09 he had 74 pts.

2001 - All star
2002 - Olympic Gold team Canada
2006 - 41 goals
2007 - 47 goals
2009 - 74 pts

It was injuries more than outliers than kept him from being a regular star caliber player

Nope, doesn’t scream all star caliber to me. Nothing he did stood out from his peers.

Gagne's 40 goal seasons came while Peter Forsberg was feeding him the puck.

Shot reminds me of Drai so much.... had this goal today. He'll never come anywhere close to Drai playmaking but his shot and game are similar.

similar to this one... Drai style release

Definitely has some Draisaitl in him, I agree with that comparison.

I think Mason's the favorite for the 2023 Calder Trophy. He will be an impact player in the NHL very quickly and I suspect Power and Beniers will run into a bit of a wall at some point this season after back-to-back seasons of playing a college schedule.

Is he generational? What a WJC, damn...
I think part of it is he's more physically mature than alot of the players none of these guys can really physically handle him save a couple guys

But he's still going to get bigger and stronger I expect him to turn into a player who really can't be pushed off the puck or in front of the net plus he has great hands which people are starting to realize..

Good player and will be a first line player that can do everything but generational is very rare air, Crosby and McDavid are the only generational players and as great as tournament as he is having McTavish is not at that level
Ya I don’t think any duck fans see him as generational…. But he should be a very nice forward for the future…. Hopefully we can add another top forward talent in next draft and have the core up front be zegras mctavish terry and that pick

Add that to our defense
Mintyukov drysdale zellweger luneau thrun lacombe helleson Warren

And goalie depth gibson stolarz dostal clang

I think we’re in a pretty good spot going forward
