Perfetti and Raymond might still grow though, Rossi definititely isnt he hasnt grown for over a year. He is further along in his physical development and is far closer to his finished product than these other two. You're not picking the player for right now as you clearly know however to not wonder how close Rossi is to his finished product would be irresponsible in making this decision. Personally he is just too far along in his physical development for his size for me to draft in the top 9 for me this year. I have him 10th.

Laf
Byfield
Stutzle
Drysdale
Perfetti
Raymond
Quinn
Sanderson
Holtz
Rossi

He just doesnt drive the play in the same way, Point does with his legs Rossi doesnt. If Rossi had explosive speed like Point he would be in the conversation for number 2. He doesn't have that elite level skating.
Lmao did you see Point skate predraft?? I hope you're kidding. Tampa literally hired a figure skating coach to work with him.

His skating will never be at points level. He doesnt have the stride or power, you can develop skating sure, it goes alot further on a big body to get faster, but small guys there is only so much better than can get. He has already made it better and its still very average, he doesnt have the explosiveness to create space.

Its not conjecture he is at his physical maximum he has a late birthday and grew early. Most players this age are not finished, if he gets any heavier he loses even more speed.
I'm not a strong voice for Rossi's camp, but this is a weird thing to say about Point considering he had the exact same criticisms levied against him in his draft year and was a below average skater until he started working with Barb Underhill. His mediocre skating is the reason he wasn't a top ten pick, not his size.

Point wasnt full grown come his draft and is also taller than Rossi. I dont see them as comparable too be honest, they are almost opposites from a physical development standpoint in their draft years.

Barb Underhill works with every skater on Tampa doesn’t she?
Yes but I saw a documentry where she worked with him exclusively for some time daily to re-do his whole stride. Seems to have worked out.

Rossi’s skating is getting underrated. He’s not the fastest guy but his balance and edges are phenomenal. He just needs to work on his straight line speed which is average right now.

His low centre of gravity and strength will make it tough to knock him off the puck.

I had read that one scout feels Rossi compares favorably to Brad Marchand.

Size is an issue. That's why I can see Rossi sliding out of top10. That being said, I really think that Rossi's got all the tools to be successful at NHL level besides size. Even his skating isn't as bad as some may think, he has constantly improved his skating over the last few years and he won't stop developing in that area.

The team which picks Rossi will get an awesome player. I won't be shocked if he becomes the best player out of this draft class but this is kinda Longshot. Only time will tell.

I honestly can’t see Rossi getting past Buffalo if he’s there, which would be surprising in itself. I understand all the arguments about him, he’s an older player who played for a great team and racked up tons of points against lackluster teams. He’s still an outstanding point producing center who could play wing if needed, and the Sabres badly, badly need that. I’d be overjoyed if we took him at #8, which is what Pronman predicted with his latest mock. I’d greatly prefer Rossi over Holtz or Lundell and probably over Raymond as well.

Raymond is in a different tier. His upside is massive

Does anyone know if Rossi will be playing CHL next season, or is he thinking about playing in Europe, which would allow him to play in the fall?

He rejected an offer from Zurich, I believe. He wants to play in the NHL.

waiting till after the draft .. has things aligned to go to Switzerland if he is not to stay with the NHL team.

Drat! Want to get another look at him before the draft, just in case. I think the Euros have a big chance to impress scouts in the early fall, while the NA kids are sitting on the couch eating snacks and playing COD. Could easily see a guy like Amirov, Reichel, Peterka, or Gunler shooting up the board with a nice fall.
