Teams drafting him at 9, 10 or later will be getting tremendous value at those picks imo.
I agree. I don’t think it’s likely, but I certainly think he could fall out of the top 10 if things fall the right way.
If the top 7 are some form of Laf, Byfield, Stutzle, Perfetti, Drysdale, Raymond, Holtz, and Sanderson is a lock to go top 10 (looking likely), then you only need one or two teams to be scared by his size/skating combination. I don’t think he get’s past Montreal if they’re picking at 9 or 10, but I do wonder if a team like Chicago or NJ, whom are both somewhat set at the center position, don’t go in a different direction such as Askarov or Jarvis.

If you think Rossi will be available at 9 or 10 or even 7 you're straight trippin

But why Zegras, 9th overall didn't play as good for Boston as Cole Caufield, 15th overall played for Wisconsin?... In the other hand...Caufield wasn't supposed to be there at 15 either.....
:cool::naughty:
My point was that every year players are reached for and the consensus is deviated from. So, if you think Rossi, a player commonly projected to go in the 5-10 range, could be there at 7, you’re not “trippin”

I don't mean to stray too far from the Rossi discussion, but I'm not so sure I'd say that Caufield had a better year than Zegras. Caufield's production was excellent, and is a good sign of his potential to be a prolific scoring winger in the NHL.

That said, Zegras took huge strides towards becoming an elite play-making center. That doesn't always show up on the boxscore, but I think it was evident at times during his play at BU and the WJC.

After this season, I think that most GM's- if offered either player- take Zegras.

I was just joking btw.
I have no knowledge of previous talk, so...yeah.

Anyways, I think Zegras is pretty good, should be good for Ducks, not sure yet what he gonna be
but time will tell.

But i agree, its a Marco Rossi, thread, other talk should go to threads where they belong.

This guy is the 2nd or 3rd best player in the draft. This kid has it.

While I agree that he has "it" it's also a really good draft for the top 5 and the top 3 forward prospects also have size and that's before we even get into a guy like Raymond who just had a poor statistical year in a limited role in a mens league..

It’s not to take anything away from the other guys in this class. It’s an abnormally strong forward group, and Rossi is near the very top. I personally think he’s number two behind Laf, and while Byfield might have the higher ceiling, which should have him selected earlier, Rossi shouldn’t fall beyond 4.

Size isn’t always an indicator of how someone plays. Rossi plays a grittier, more aggressive style than say, Alex Holts who’s bigger. The NHL is changing, and Rossi ticks all the boxes.

Elite playmaking, hands, IQ, very good shot, good speed. But what I like the most about this kid is that he wins board battles. Always comes out with the puck. Very competitive. Also loves to just crash the net with the puck. Too often playmakers slow the play down too much but this kid doesn't. He knows when it's time to just f*** it and crash the net with the puck

It’s extremely realistic that he would be there at 7. What are you talking about?
If Rossi makes to 7 there are going to be some scouts and GM's around who'll have to answer the question, why didn't we select him?....Lafreniere,Byfield...Ottawa should select him at 3 but with the uncertainty of next year country do they?I would!

That's absurd. He has no chance of going top 3. How are people thinking it would be dumb if he reaches #7? I easily have 6 guys ahead of him. This draft is very good, that's not a knock on Rossi

The Sens have picks 2 and 5 and unless Rossi goes 4th to Detroit they should take Rossi at 5th.

Stuzle/Byfield and Rossi is exactly what the sens need for a quick rebuild and ascension.

I disagree ( have others over him) but at least it's a possibility. I was responding to the point of the sens picking him at 3. Would be awful

The ole expression on scouting, when you watch too much of someone you like you'll end up either loving or hating them too much.

Rossi is good. He's CHL. He's one of the easiest prospects to get tape on right now, perhaps even more viewed than Lafreniere.

He's not getting much nuanced opinion at this point, people are either loving him or hating him.

In my opinion, he's a top 5 talent in this draft but I don't have him as a top 8 prospect. I don't like his ceiling. I respect his skills but I don't see it in him to take big steps forward (edit: as compared to the other players in that draft range).

You are going to be wrong because this kid has what it takes to be a top 3-4 forward on any team

LA has the 2nd pick,Ottawa has 3 and 5. I'm sure that's what you meant

And the fact that Rossi leaves for greener pastures at this point means he knows he's outgrown Junior hockey and needs more of a challenge...good on him

He does. But so does Lafreniere, Byfield, Raymond, Stutzle etc etc.

Kid is good, I agree with the majority that have him outside the top 5 but don't rate him as highly as most.

If he suddenly developed elite seperation over the summer, I'd change my tune on him completely
