C/LW Cole Perfetti - Saginaw Spirit, OHL (2020, 10th, WPG)

GeorgeLeafer always the real G. Knows the rest of us can't access the OHL/WHL/QMJHL websites, so he always posts the stats of prospects from game to game here. :sarcasm:

But seriously, props. And Perfetti is a great player.

2nd goal of the year. He's had a weird start, 5th in the league in shots but only two goals (~5% shooting). Gotta think they'll start going in at some point.

If he stays at center his draft stock will rise for sure
Love the player, but I don't think many NHL teams will view him as a serious center prospect. Between his size and skating, it will be very hard for him to stay at the dot. Most smaller NHL centers are good skaters. I've stated this before, but he reminds me of a middle-ground of Marner and Skinner but with weaker skating than both. He should be able to rack up a hell of a lot of points in the NHL, especially on the PP.

For a 2nd year player he shows plenty of discipline and maturity on the ice. If he plays well usually translates to a win. Saginaw has the #1 PP in the OHL and #2 in PK. He is 3rd in OHL scoring after a slow start. Love to watch him, Coskey and Giroux scary line.

You knew it was coming.

The thing is, is that he’s still not collecting many points off goals. With the quality of this kid’s shot and his exuberant willingness to use it, I think we can expect a significant uptick in that area in the coming weeks/months.

Anybody watching Perfetti play? Any reports on how he is playing
Perfetti came out of the gate slow. He must have hit a dozen posts and crossbars. He needs an elusive C to give him some space to do his thing. Coskey and Giroux are his linemates most nights. To me he didn't look sharp like usual the first 5 to 8 games. The good news is he has stepped up his game and will challenge for leading scorer in the OHL. Cole is currently 4th in league scoring. The whole Saginaw team has been under achieving most of the year playing poorly in the 3rd period and goaltending has been inconsistent. Perfetti will be happy when they acquire that C like Thomas, Dudas, Jenik etc.

finster8 are you saying wild draft pick Giroux doesn't look good? (just asking) thanks man.
Giroux has played very well but is a natural LW, with a center between Coskey and Perfetti leaves you a Giroux-Jenkins-Busdeker line a nice top 6. Can't complain about Giroux's game he is key on the PP and is having a good year just have to spread it out can't put all your eggs in one basket.

Is he more of a center or a winger?

In other words, you draft Perfetti, at what position would you develop him?

I think you might be looking at a Brayden Point type player in Cole.

Development at LW, he has good excelleration ,edge work does not have top speed more suited for wing.

I haven't followed this class as closely as recent years, but Perfetti seems Huberdeau-esque to me.
What do other people think of that?

High skill 1st line W, likely to go high. If that holds up the profile matches anyways.

This will make a team in the be a top 15 or 20 picks a dream. Guys slip others improve. We have 5 or 6 draft eligible on the team. Perfetti, Byfield, Drysdale, Lafreniere, Mercer and Schneider. If the cut off is date is Sept 15. That is just Canada. That is some crazy talent for the 2020 NHL Draft. Perfetti is a top 10 for me.

#3 is too high for him but thats just my opinion. Id say around 5 (im just really high on guys like stutzle and raymond) lol
He isn’t as skilled as Raymond, that’s for sure. But, his brain is as good as it comes in this class. I think he projects as a 35-40 goal center in the NHL, so I’d take him at 3, as of rn.

I’d actually be shocked if Perfetti ended up a center. I agree Raymond is more skilled but Perfetti plays a smarter game.
