Didn’t Chevy come out publicly about PoMos refusal to play young guys recently? PoMo is notorious for choosing vets over prospects. This isn’t new. Stop deflecting blame from PoMo
Chevy decides who plays in the nhl and who plays ahl not Maurice.

While you may be correct at face value with regards to the rules of player transfers within the league, you have to be pretty naive if you think Chevy actually makes the choice as to who actually gets called up or moved down. I’m sure PoMo makes the decision based on what he wants to play, tells Chevy and he does the paperwork with the league.

Well obviously every coach has a say in what happens with their roster. But the ultimate decision is still Chevys. He can put anyone on the 23 man roster he wants. It's up to Mo whether they play or ride the pine though.

I still have my doubts on that. That would be like saying Chevy decides who’s on the opening day roster after training camp. It doesn’t make any sense. Chevy does provide the roster/players through draft, trades and free agency, but you gotta figure it’s maurices call on who needs to come up, move down, taxi, conditioning stints, etc. I’m sure when it comes to contracts, bonuses, contract slide (Heinola) etc, Chevy def voices his opinion.

It's always been up to the GM to decide the roster. That's just how it works in the NHL. A coach just cant say I want that guy and they are moved up or I dont want that guy and they are moved down. There is far more to it that that like managing the salary cap for example. That's why GMs make the calls there because the coach should be focused on what's happening on the ice, not the financial side of things.

GM's have ultimate choice on who is in the NHL and who is in the AHL. They make call ups and send players down. Coaches can obviously put in a word but the GM has the final say.

Yup, for sure. If Chevy wanted Vesalainen, Stanley, Gus, Perfetti, or Heinola in the lineup, he'd just do it, GM and Coach! Maurice is an innocent bystander solely playing with the toys he's given, he has ZERO input into roster decisions. Poor innocent Maurice. No one listens to him.

Yes he has the final say but I would say there is more of a collaborative approach to it in which a coach and GM together decide the final roster spots.

There is more at play then just straight roster strength. If there is only a fourth line spot open is the GM going to want a prized prospect playing there, likely not.

Did I day he has zero input or are you just pretending you cant read for shit?

Yeah there is a lot of cap compliance stuff that happens as well that Maurice will have zero say in. The GM is here to build the roster. Not Maurice. Maurice is here to coach the players that Chevy gives him.

Well that's an incredibly stupid take.
No its not. Thats just how it works. That’s why it’s called ‘GM mode’ in NHL video games and not ‘coach mode’. The GM makes and sets the roster decisions. The coach picks who plays based on who Chevy gives him and decides the systems they play.

I'll also add the Maurice had Heinola at his disposal multiple times this year and did nothing with him. So it's not like he isn't to blame as well.

80% of the roster is set in stone well ahead of camp. Most teams have a collection of established players signed to one way big money deals. Those deals are signed by the GM and no coach has a say in if those players are on the roster or not.

We are talking about maybe 2 to 3 roster spots that are up for grabs at camp and that is where there is likely more collaboration between coach and GM and the coach likely has greater influence on who wills those spots but the GM most certainly decides the fast majority of the roster.

Scored his first goal (and 1st point) of the tournament to put Canada ahead 3-2 against kazakhstan in the third...

The release on Cole's wrist shot has always been really impressive to me, something about it is just really nice to watch.

I think he'll be a nice addition to an already strong group of Jets forwards next year (if he move up).

Watching him on Canada's top PP unit with Power and Johnson and it's crazy to think he was once a Michigan commit, too. Would be a hell of a show to add Perfetti to Power, Johnson, Beniers, Bordeleau, Hughes, Beecher, Samoskevich, Brisson, etc
