Canada's WJC roster selection process is hardly a meritocracy, though, and since Brown has no prior experience playing for Canada internationally/in the provincial programs, I doubt he would ever get a fair shake

He played at U17 and was invited to Hlinka camp.

Good. You play for the country your raised. This Canadian American nonsense is ridiculous. Now Chychrun should join the States next, he's no Canadiab.

McLeod, Jost, and Patrick will probably make it.

I don't see the combined 98/97 US forwards being stronger than the combined 98/97 Canadian forwards.

Canada's WJC team next season should be pretty strong. It's the 2018 team (where the 98s would be the 19 year old players) that should be weak.

Then you clearly don't follow the American forwards they are very strong and comparable to Canada's.

I didn't say they weren't strong. I said I didn't see them being stronger than Canada's for those two years, combined. You are free to disagree of course.

welcome back to the fold Mr. Brown.

he gets to play with his buddies in Kunin and Keller now moving forward as this move makes sense as born and raised in the states.

I think he is picking the tougher road as making team USA the next 2 years at forward will be more difficult compared to Canada, but I think USA would love his size and bringing him in now I would imagine will lock him in at least as a 13th forward for the WJC with his size, skill, and versatility.

Tage Thompson, Logan Brown, and Riley Tufte - the US is bringing some giants to the ice now! :handclap:

You think. I'm not sure he had much of a chance to make Team Canada.

And since you have made me angry I'm going back on my promise.

I see that 4 players on the USA U18 are born to former Canadian NHL players that played in the USA.

That's some five year old logic. Chill.

I don't think he would have made it next year. But I'm sure he could have the year after.

He needs to improve his conditioning no doubt about it as he fades at the end of shifts, also could use work on his small area quickness and first step... But aside from that he is a complete package! With his size, skill level and hockey sense it is hard not to see him anchoring at least a 3rd line in the NHL! How do you pass on that, I doubt he gets past pick 15, certainly before Tufte.

First step acceleration is one of the quickest things that can be addressed by simply adding more muscle. Flyers prospect Oscar Lindblom suffered from that his draft year and after adding more leg muscle and strength, his skating issues have become a thing of the past.

Brown is a very intriguing prospect because he has hands as soft as butter and his footwork is ridiculous good for a big man. He can pivot on a dime and he's one of the better lateral skaters in this his side to side movement is fantastic. If he adds a bit of a mean streak he's going to be a whole boat load to handle. I'm hoping he's available when the Flyers pick. I think there's a lot of untapped potential with Brown and he's just starting to scratch the surface.

How has he played so far for the US?

He's been good. I've been very impressed with his play making. He also handles and protects the puck well while being quite mobile for his size. He's a very intriguing prospect and I'm glad he chose to play for the US team.

Unfair advantage to the United States.

23 NHL teams, haven't counted but, what 30 AHL teams, makes for an awful lot of American citizens.

I think he will be a surprise top 10 pick. Hockey IQ, scoring and size is a huge combo. Not many kids at 6'5+ show that kind of potential on their draft year.

Kinda funny that there are 3 players matching that description in this draft slotted to go ahead of him
