Seems much like Frederik Gauthier?

Huge, not overly aggressive, good defensively but lacking game breaking offense?

Similar, but a bigger version of him. Also, think he has more untapped offensive potential. While Gauthier is pure bottom-6 C, Brown IMO has 2C upside. Still, no more than a late 1st in my eyes

I don't think he has the offensive creativity or hands to be a top 6 player in the NHL. He can skate and he's 6'6. Kind of physical with pretty good hockey IQ. Looks closer to Brian Boyle than a Joe Thornton or Getzlaf.

I think Brown is being severely underrated. He's a playmaking C with a top 5 shot out of the OHL for this draft class. At 6'6" 225 he's got the size to physically dominate but plays more relying on his skating which is good and incredible for someone of his stature at that age.

Talking to a few guys I would have a hard time seeing him fall to the latter half of the first and the opinion I've gathered is that his floor is that of a 3C with a high ceiling.

Kids production has been better of late. Watched him play late night and was impressed. For such a big body he weaved through traffic with the puck rather well. Has a rocket ofa shot and gets it off quick. Almost like a Wendel Clark snap shot. He made good passes, had some creativity.

Saw some of that game too. He looks good but if would just throw his weight around a bit he would be a monster.

I believe he'll go top 10 in this draft. You can't teach size, skating or vision and he has all of those along with a great shot and a former NHLer for a father.

This is a home run.

Hattrick today against SSM

7 goals and 17 points in 11 games in the month of February

Heating up at the right time

Someone who will likely go in the Avs pick range(if they don't trade it). Has a big upside and good shot but needs to use it more(which it seems like he's been doing since TPG)

Had a fantastic game against Kingston on Sunday.

His skating is excellent for a man his size. He was weaving through players, gaining the blue line like he was 5'10". His hockey IQ and vision surprised me. He was making excellent passes all over the ice, especially in the offensive zone. By far the most noticeable player for either team. I think this is a case of a guy who's seeing a huge leap in development over the 2nd half of the season, and I really hope teams take notice because he's got all the makings of #2 C in the NHL.

I'd take this guy first half of the 1st round no question. He's got the skill, IQ, size and skating to be an NHL player. If I'm a GM, i'm salivating at the idea of being able to groom him into a #2 centre who can shut down the other teams top lines and wear them down. The exciting part is he has the all offensive tools to be able to go head to head with them and not look out of place.

Nope. Kid easily has the talent for top 6. The reason many scouts I have spoken to this season (some as recently as this week) still have him as a late first is his lack of consistency in effort/perceived laziness in his game.

I'll have a ton of quotables for this kid in our Black Book. Some great stuff from NHL scouts.

The Draft Analyst 2016 Draft Profile: Logan Brown

He can be a joy to watch, using above-average speed but a powerful long stride and reach to protect the puck off the rush. He’s an excellent passer, blessed with a sixth sense to anticipate and dissect the defensive scheme presented to him. Brown owns a very heavy shot — one of the draft’s best among forwards — which he can fire with accuracy off the pass via a quick release. He was a bit pass-happy the first few months of the season, but his coachability and dedication towards refining his all-around game resulted in a goal-scoring explosion since January.

Brown is a classic upside case. Is he Jason Bonsignore or Eric Staal? The cap-world has made teams be far more patient with prospects than in years past. He's got a ton going for him -- NHL bloodlines, maturity, size-skill combo. I wouldn't consider him somebody to build around or pin the hopes of a franchise on, but I can see him flourish as key/star player on a good team in a Spezza kind of way.

Teams looking for that classic 1C with size may nab him in the lower part of the lottery. Not a lot of prospects with discernible top-center upside in 2016.

Yeah, there's a ton of talent and skill there, and size obviously. That's not really the question. But the intensity seems pretty hit or miss, at best.

Logan Brown really reminds of me that version of Rick Nash that tends to show up when he's a bit disinterested. Has that same sort of size and gets around the ice quite well for his size, has pretty slick hands and uses his size well to shield the puck. But also seems prone to bouts of just not bothering to move his feet - starts using his size in a kind of lazy way that works in Jrs, but won't get away with very much at the next level. Goes through stints of looking like he's completely lacking any kind of killer instinct as a scorer.

Really interesting project for someone though. Lots of upside. But could be really frustrating, especially if he lands in the wrong development system. Those type of habits can be so hard to break - long list of players with a ton of potential who never get over that issue with consistency and intensity.

Could see him getting drafted by the Kings in the 1st if they have one this year, can't recall if they traded him or not. Seems to fit their desired prototype of size up the middle and should be available in the right range of picks.

I am probably not as concerned with the effort factor as others are, though. If someone is a ridiculously good offensive/possession player, I think they can deceive folks with the eye test even though their defensive metrics are still as good as those of their peers. I think Brown could be one of those players.

They do not have a 1st, Carolina has it.

Brown was really good in the game Sportsnet showed 8 days ago against Kingston. Looked like a top 15 pick.

Scratch that idea, then. But I think Brown's recent run of form, along with the obvious physical tools, could propel him back to the Top 15 status that I thought he was touted as before the year started and lost mid-way through. His skating for someone of his stature is almost unique and he's a beast offensively, with most indicators suggesting he isn't using his size to just dominate lesser opponents (on the contrary, he has the reputation of a finess player rather than a bruiser, which I am partial to) and therefore has a higher chance of translating to a more skilled higher level.

I don't think it would be a huge shock for him to climb above the likes of Tyson Jost or Dante Fabbro (due to their level of competition in the BCHL and associated NCAA commitments, more an issue of ETA than ability) or Tyler Benson (due to Benson's injury troubles this year), all of whom I would have pegged as Top 15 caliber players as well.

Whoever gets Brown is going to be very happy with their pick.

I've been saying all year a 6'6 center is going to be like catnip to Colorado assuming they don't get their hands on one of the big wingers.

What I notice with Brown is inconsistency and in all aspects of his game. Even physically its rare to see such great gaps in how he approaches that element, which in most players is normally performed consistently.

His scouting reports read a lot like Getzlaf's from his draft year.

I can see the Flyers snagging him if he is available at 14, 16, or 17 (where the Flyers are all but guaranteed to draft).

He would be able to go back to Juniors for a year before getting a crack at the Flyers 3rd line Center duties behind Giroux and Couturier at the start of the 2017-2018 season. Of it they are happy with either Nick Cousins or Scott Laughton there, he could slot on one of their wings to start his career before moving to Center after a few seasons of learning how to be a Pro.
