Nope... Even BEFORE the lottery, I didn't want the Oilers picking Strome. I wanted Hanifin or Marner.

I want good players who carry bad teams (Voracek) rather than good players on great teams (see Sam Gagner with Patrick Kane). That 2007 draft I want a redo on :)

This. Marner is the better player without a doubt. Put Strome in London and Marner on Erie and lol.

Just hope Arizona takes Hanifin so Leafs can snag him. He has the potential to be the 3rd best in the draft. I just don't see that potential in Strome.

Everyone says strome won the scoring championship because he plays with mcdavid. Well how many of mcdavids points were because of strome the door swings both ways

Every page of the Strome thread should have a note showing:

Strome had 35 points in the 21 games McDavid missed. That'd be good for 113 points over a 68 game season, only 16 points less than he got with McDavid on the first line for 47 games.

Yet then he is at a much lower pace than Marner & obviously McDavid. Plus, he's facing teams with their top players going to WJC also during that time.

Anyways, just heard on TSN radio that Arizona's guy is Strome

I agree, he's good but I just think he is a little overrated for a 3rd overall prospect. He plays on a great team that scored a ton of goals. How many times did he pad his stats against weaker teams, with some of the other good players around him, not even including McDavid. He was invisible in games 3 and 4 in London. We'll see if he can be a go to guy in a series against a team like the soo.

Hoping Arizona takes Strome 3rd. That would be a dream come true for Toronto, giving them the choice between Hanifin and Marner (who are both elite in my eyes and far better than Strome).

Is he playing tonight? Man, he is a ghost. Total non factor thus far. He is floating and playing on the perimeter.

I don't see what other people see. Ihave seen him 4 times not to impressed.

I think zacha goes before him.

The people that see him the most seem to like him the most. Not going to defend him in these playoffs so far, but he is a fantastic prospect.

Very off game from him. Complete ghost. Probably saw 2 positive plays. Needs to step up

Like I've said numerous times before, Marner is head and shoulders above Strome. Marner is elite in many aspects and is a game-changer. He carries his team. Strome does not. He's had good numbers because the opposition plays their best players against the McDavid line.

If you put Strome on London and put Marner on Erie, Mitch would be talked about as potentially denting the top 2 this year.

This coming from somebody who likes Strome. But it is very evident Marner is on another level.

His stat line looks great and the one sentence description (big bodied highly skilled centre) sounds great, but like some others have said, in my (to be fair few number of) viewings, ive been slightly underwhelmed. His pretty weak playoff performance isnt helping either.

Id lean towards Hanifin, maybe Marner, or maybe trading down ~2 spots and taking Barzal or Provorov.

He's at 6 for me. I like him but he's not a #3 rated guy by any stretch of the imagination for me. Especially with guys like Marner and Hanifin available.

JVR can be that guy to provide the compete, it's just he's gonna have to work on doing it consistently.

Where is it coming from that Strome has a low compete level?

As far as JVR is concerned, he's no lead dog. More of a guy who plays to the tempo and pace of his surroundings.

As a Leafs fan, I hope that Arizona takes him so that we can`t.

He just doesn`t have it -- whatever you want to define it as, Strome is devoid of it. If we draft him and put him with JVR, we`ll have succeeded in assembling the softest big-boy line in hockey.

If Strome is 6`0 instead of 6`3, is anyone even considering him ahead of Marner?

Well ya know what?! We don't give a **** about it!!

I'm sorry, I had to

Glad to see that more people are starting to see that Marner is the superior prospect. Watched last nights game as well. With McDavid still managing to score three goals while being hounded by Nurse the entire game Strome was nowhere to be found. He's going to have to step it up big time if Erie wants any chance of winning this series.
